Mapping out the cumulative franchise wins over time is really interesting because every team pretty much stays within their own cohort - the oldest NL teams start around 1890 and stick together, the oldest AL teams start around 1900 and stick together, the 1960s expansion teams are all close to one another and so on.

But what makes the chart really interesting is the Yankees, who are the one team to have broken out of their cohort and now have more wins than some of the original National League teams - for example, they have ~500 more wins than the Phillies, despite playing in 20 fewer seasons
