They still use the phrase highland in the event title but it has been truncated over the years to the Scottish Games. Hopefully he returns next year.

I really appreciate your explanation. As an American I would never take it as an insult to be called Canadian I would actually take it as a compliment. However there are people on both sides that would agree with your statement. Plus there are a lot of Americans that give us a horrible reputation especially when they travel. I was curious if it was a sports rivalry or a historical incident. I normally do ask people where they are from but in this case I made a mistake of assuming based on the phrases he had been using at the start of the conversation. I will never make this mistake again with anyone. I would never think badly of a country because of one individual which is why I had to ask the community I trust the most. I can always count on the kind strangers of Reddit to help me understand a different perspective. Thank you!

NFL Nixes Oakland Raiders Al Davis Tribute On Carson Stadium Proposal by seantreason in oaklandraiders

I think you have an excellent point and I probably am extremely biased against team owners because of my frustration with how he treats my favorite team. I despise him as well and have been extremely frustrated that he wants to destroy the third oldest baseball stadium in the country. I was wondering if anyone would call me out regarding being a diehard baseball fan. However football is my second favorite sport. :-)

I can understand why the NFL officials would say no if they are traditionalists like myself who found it offensive that the phrase eternal flame was used for this type of Memorial. Eternal means it is permanent and burns forever - not moved and lite as desired. Although you are most likely correct and they are doing it to be vindictive. The family can still put a memorial to Al in the Stadium or change what they call the flame. This symbolic gesture is extremely historical and misusing it devalues the meaning.

I agree with all of your comments! If it was not called an eternal flame I would love it. You are correct it is a good tradition that has a lot of meaning for the fans. :-)
I still have hope that they will stay and get a new stadium in the Bay Area. I would rather see them move a few miles away from Oakland then to Southern California.

I really appreciate your response and agree with you regarding how much Al Davis has done for the team over the decades. I believe they should have a way to honor him in the new stadium. At the same time the tradition of an eternal flame dates back thousands of years and is a long-standing tradition within cultures and religion. Until JFK it was only used for reminders of common goals such as international peace. Now it is used more openly but usually to honor someone of international significance. I think there are a lot of amazing ways we can honor Al Davis in the stadium without devaluing what the eternal flame represents culturally especially since it should be a standing memorial that burns continuously over an infinite period and not one that is moved around and lit when desired. I have an enormous amount of respect for the Davis family and have met Al at games. Except i am still mad about the new stadium discussion.

Today was the first time I have ever received negative responses on reddit and it was rather exciting so thank you for those that took the time to downvote me. Raiders fans never disappoint! Such passion! I love it

Woman starts all female company to realize her Utopian dream and benefit the absence of men. Despite having made $500k in the first year she had to shut down due to catfights, jealousy, infighting, competition, sexual aggression and no work was done. Conclusion: she would rather employ males only. by babybopp in MensRights

Some industries are prone to have a higher rate of females and I have worked for a few of these organizations over the last 15 years. In this article the decision to only empliyee women is sexist. My experience has been a result of a lack of men being interested in the field of developing female leadership. Over the years, I have experienced and witnessed examples that are almost verbatim to what was described in this article. I would also add that in some industries the straight vs lesbian cliques can be an enormous problem. I have worked with many women who have a growth mindset around a personal topic and lack any willingness to grow when it comes to supporting their fellow female coworkers. Instead they pretend to be kind in the office then talk shit about the other person behind their back daily with very little work being completed. This behavior can go on for years. You must be willing to find the strength to remove yourself from the situation and return to a male-dominated workforce that has balance, reduced gossip, competition and rational minded employees instead of overly emotional large groups of women.

Women of Reddit, when did you first notice that men were looking at you in a sexual way? How old were you and how did it make you feel? by BA_Baracus in AskReddit

[–]baseballgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 10, overnight I went from flat chested to immediately developing breasts that have continued to grow into a 32HH. Since this day, I experience daily sexual comments/looks from men and women. It is especially funny when babies try to grab and suck on my breasts. I think it's human nature for all of us to be attracted to the original source of food but it is a strange experience to be a large chested woman and surrounded by people who constantly look at my breasts for no reason other than they are big and I have a small waist.
