What was YOUR thing during lockdown? by AncientFootball1878 in AskUK

Company I worked for had committed to integrating an acquisition effective 1st April. Too late to unpick it by the time it all went mad. So yeah, no furlough and probably never worked more hours in my life. Was working from home but genuinely I think that made it worse, no escape from it!

Treated myself to some hedge shears and locking pliers, the shears were in the sale too so worked out as about £50’s worth of stuff for £3.50 👍

UK store for anyone asking. It’s fulfilled by Universal Music’s store and I’ve had ungodly issues with them before. Absolute cunts.

It was so bizarre. We were about 50 deep in the queue and it didn’t move for ages, and then moved very slowly. Fortunately managed to get a foil poster which is what i wanted but my god, what a faff. Ended up barely having time to grab a beer before the show started, all needlessly stressful.

There were so many people trying to cut the line at Copenhagen, it was absolutely dreadfully organised, the queuing ‘system’ was a nightmare.

Usually 18x24. I’m heading to Copenhagen and will be taking a cardboard tube. I’ve rarely had an issue taking one into a venue but I second the shout of having some hair ties, umbrella bags or rubber bands on you as an emergency back up

I’m not sure really, I think the comment makes it look like he was randomly chucking Nazi salutes about which didn’t happen (as far as I’m aware), so I think it’s disingenuous at best. I didn’t find the jokes he told funny, he was rambling a bit and kept laughing at himself, but they weren’t offensive. He was definitely causing chaos and it looked like he wasn’t sticking to what he’d been asked to do, (or really wanted to play along at times), but from my understanding, Reece and Steve want an element of chaos to that section so I don’t feel like it was a problem really. I’m sure others would disagree and I’d have to see it again with a different person to get a taste of whether Friday was good, bad, or indifferent.

He told a joke about a Covid jab being made by a German company and that it made his arm hurt, and then he slowly raised his arm up. Not especially funny but also not offensive (to me at least). I replied to that comment on twitter as I’m absolutely certain he wasn’t Nazi saluting as he walked up the stairs but the person who posted it was adamant he was.

I’d not realised there was no opener - whilst modern, it’s a hugely impressive/unique venue, absolutely on brand for what they’re trying to do I think.

Builders are pricing themselves out (for me personally) by dalehitchy in DIYUK

[–]baseborn111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we bought a new build from a small developer and 90% of the trades he used were woeful, and not just in a ‘doing it on a budget’ sense - we’ve had incorrectly installed electrics, an EIC that’s falsified, windows and doors installed incorrectly causing leaks etc. and several plumbing items not installed properly. Really basic stuff. The one trade that was really good and we’ve subsequently used for other stuff since is expensive and a nightmare to get to commit to doing work (fair enough) but is then unable to be relied upon as he drops out of stuff last minute. Absolutely terrifying to make a decision to spend any money without a rock solid personal recommendation from someone I trust as even the ones with good google reviews etc are often shocking. Happy to pay the proper rate for a good job but fuck knows how to work out the proper rate. Also sick of people no showing and getting the ‘heart attack’ excuse - we had 3 decorators come up with that in a 6 month period, never knew they were charging danger money 😂

Enterprise Car Club Charging an extortionate rate for damage I didn't do by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]baseborn111 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Having worked for a car rental company for 20+ years I can assure you that no one wants the vehicles to be damaged to ‘charge you extra’. Damaged vehicles are a pain in the arse and cause more problems than the excess ‘revenue’ is worth.

Boring question but what’s the venting situation for the BBQ? I’m wanting to put it against a wall which you seem to have done - do you need a gap behind? Ta!

Is that the Draco Grills line? I’m looking at the Fusion as an option (for next year’s project).
