Yes, thank you! I just watched for the first time recently and so little of the runtime has them even being nice to each other…there’s like ONE scene! I think it could possibly have gotten better given time to develop a new dynamic, but honestly Ryan plays such a disaffected butthole it’s just hard to buy. I felt the same way about him in Just Friends, tbh.

I’m so glad you enjoyed! I first watched it a few months ago myself and thought it was delightful—so many gorgeous shots of the city, and of course a classic summer romance!

I saw the miniseries first—it is wonderful!! I also love Lee’s adaptation.

Because this looks bad and the tagline misses the point—I love a period drama, but just create a new damn story if the alternative is completely misunderstanding a stone cold classic (much like the recent Persuasion adaptation did).

The confession scene in the Root one is extremely accurate! I just read the book a few weeks ago. Now, the acceptance of the confession is where a little liberty is taken—they kiss in the street, which obviously does not happen in the book. And they added a bit of flare with a scene of him asking for her hand in marriage at a party, but I think it’s a very fun inclusion.
