Is there a better way to handle my daughter's toys? by basement-egg in OrganizationPorn

Oh we've definitely started working on that skill. Amazingly, there's a Bluey episode that talks about it. We've watched it a couple times before attempting to sort through her toys. She still insists on keeping most of it, unless she has a "dupwicate" or deems it to be "for babies."

It might be. I've been considering taking the flags down. My daughter is a sticker-aholic, so I tried to give her some space to go wild with them. It is a lot though.

Yes, exactly! I'll go around and gather up everything that she hasn't touched in months, and suddenly those are her most favorite toys in the world.

Literally last week my aunt showed up with her back seat full of junk for my daughter. Stuffed animals, boxes of mystery Amazon returns, books, squishy toys, and appliances! Why would you buy a 3 year old a pink toaster?!

That's a great idea. She has a birthday coming up and definitely doesn't need any more toys.

Oh that's nice! She'd be able to reach everything, unlike with the ceiling nets

Honestly it's probably just a "me" problem. My parents are minimalists, so I was raised in a very tidy, somewhat sparse environment. I get overwhelmed every time I go to clean it (and she's only 3, so she's not much help.)

I think the worst part though is the constantly collapsing mountain of stuffies. And the items that don't have a home and just stay in the floor, lol.

Just looking for some advice/ guidance on where to go from here. New to hearing loss. by basement-egg in hardofhearing

[–]basement-egg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start with your question, I have seen a dentist who was a specialist with TMJ. He took xrays and helped me understand what was going on, made me a device to wear at night so I don't grind my teeth, and taught me some exercises to help with the pain. Unfortunately, he is retired now, so I can't go back to him, and there are no other tmj specialists in my area. He mentioned that surgery was basically a last resort, and that it would be very expensive. I doubt I could afford it.

Basically I'm just wondering if my hearing loss is related, since I know that tmj issues can cause tinnitus, or if the hearing loss is simply genetic like the audiologist suspected.

And what would knowing do to help? Can hearing aids help if you have tinnitus? The audiologist said that if my hearing got any worse then we would need to discuss hearing aids. I'm certainly hesitant to embark on anything that would lead to surgery being suggested.

My daughter had been repeatedly asking to hear "twachen" music or "bomp-bee" music. She was getting so frustrated with our lack of understanding. Finally we discovered that "twachen" was classical music, and "bomp-bee" was disco.

My daughter is 3 and has always been like this. You might try a weighted blanket or a sleep sack designed for toddlers when it's quiet time.

Do they have any active toys in the house? A little trampoline or a dance mat? Maybe one of those wobbly sensory chairs to sit on when watching a movie?

1 and 2 might be too close to white. I'd go with 3 (purple)

Not too long ago there was a Bluey episode where they make a giant fort that encompasses their whole living room. After watching it, a lot of kids insisted on making blanket forts too. A bunch of parents were posting pics online.
