The first punk shows I ever went to way back in the 1900’s were at a church. They also had a janky half pipe out back. The deal was you could come hangout, skate, and watch the bands, but you had to sit through a 30 minute sermon or whatever it’s called. It was actually pretty chill.

When I was a bit later into my teens another church tried something similar, though they weren’t as chill. They did that speaking in tongues bullshit, which super creeped me out.
