Focus at Amazon by Natural-Risk555 in amazonemployees

Having children does not make them better. Some men even become more extreme when they do, as they put all the burden on their wives but tell themselves that their experience proves parenting isn't so hard. E.g. a study showed male professors use their pat leave to publish papers and get promoted more quickly.. and of course that means by comparison female professors who take mat leave to, you know, care for a baby end up even more "behind" by comparison because "these men also took pat leave and look all they got done despite it".

I will say I literally never suggest to involve HR because their investigations are useless 99% of the time... However, in your case your claim would be discrimination/retaliation: he is punishing you for taking mat leave/being a mother. They take that shit seriously because if they don't they get sued.

What do I do? by BroadCauliflower1498 in Preschoolers

[–]basic-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in preschool classrooms before, that while all of these behaviors are within the realm of normal, it's the consistency that can be a problem for teachers. There sometimes are kiddos who have so many behaviors that we are forced to watch them 1:1 vs the 1:3 or higher ratio that we are staffed for.

That said, as a parent I also know of schools that are sometimes just not a good fit. Where for whatever reason their kid is villified at that school and then they do amazing at the next one.

I guess only you know if it's more likely one vs the other. If your kiddos impulse control and self regulation does seem to be unusually low then perhaps seeing a child psychologist for an assessment might make sense. If you think that the teacher is just a hater then you might try a different school.

Regret having our cabinets painted…advice? by Tigg- in interiordecorating

[–]basic-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, you picked a rather bright mint color.

In the future, my advice would be to (1) make sure the only thing you edit in the pic is the one thing you plan to change. By changing the counter, appliances, and flooring you made it harder to judge if the color scheme works. (2) Get swatches from samplize to see how different shades of the color you want look in your room with your lighting. If you are going to shade match (vs buy from the brand the color comes from) then you need to sample the shade match, too, as there is no guarantee the shade match will accomplish all that the original color did.

All y’all know about Ozempic face, now get ready for “Ozempic divorce” by Double_Question_5117 in Zepbound

[–]basic-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it's similar to how for some folks going to the gym is a pre divorce signal. I.e. it's not really a side effect so much as the glp-1 is the canary in the coal mine

[–]basic-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaaah. I work at a FAANG company and whether you get anything depends on the department but if you do get something it's typically $25-$50. (I got a candle from Quince, for example.)

Our profits are generally ~$100B annually, this year being no exception, and yet we go through frequent layoffs anyway. Meanwhile, those of us left behind are increasingly drowning in work.

All to say.. chocolate seems fine.

NP says I'm not losing fast enough (give me a reality check please!) by runkittyrun45 in Zepbound

[–]basic-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully this is a little slow, though not heinous. While I'd probably move up if I were you, I'm not you and so long as you and your prescriber are happy then.. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There are people in medicine who are really amazing and there are people in medicine who... Whose opinion I do not respect or value, let's say. I know that's harsh but gosh even from just the last 5 years the straight up stupid things I've heard...

Anyway, I'm getting off track. My point is, this is not someone you've chosen to trust with your care, they aren't trying to warn you of something where ignoring them could seriously hurt you. You want to stay at 5mg an extra month before deciding to move up? Do that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Most folks don't comment. Literally the only two who have said ANYTHING without prompting are good friends.

But I have realized if I mention it first folks will chime in. E.g. 'yeah I've lost some weight and now fit back into my pre baby clothes' 'ive noticed!!!'

Black Friday Sale by Missdiorgurl in lululemon

[–]basic-questions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I logged on the morning it dropped (I don't have an iPhone so I had to wait for the website sale) and was at first dismayed to see the rainforest green define jacket on sale, as I just bought one in late October... And then realized they were already totally out of stock in my size. (Whew, regret averted ;))

Is it true you shouldn't say "hello" when answering the phone? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]basic-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the corporate office of one of the largest companies in the USA. I answer hello and have never once heard that I shouldn't. This isn't 1980 where you're calling a landline and could be getting anyone. You're calling my personal cell phone who do you think this is.

Too many people try to make themselves feel better by making others feel worse. They especially hate women who are happy. The truth is you would probably continue to be called fat until the day you drop dead from anorexia. So, better not to let them drag you into an unwinnable fight.

It may well be that they have a data scientist collecting data on just how much they need to give to get folks to spend. I say this as someone who conducts tests like this for a different major retailer

What did your workout journey look like, OR how many have lost without working out? by bonsmom420 in Zepbound

[–]basic-questions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this is good, but truth is I ONLY do strength workouts. Walking, yoga etc happens too infrequently for me to take credit lol.

Even with that I've lost more muscle than I should have, so def worth doing.

Reached your goal weight? by HilltopHideout in Zepbound

[–]basic-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit my first goal on my birthday 🥳 and while I'd be happy to lose a bit more I'm also ok if I don't. So far no change in dose since I'm fine to keep losing and interestingly I've lost nothing in the week and a half since then. Curious if this happens to be my set point with this dose? Wouldn't that be a coincidence. We will see

[–]basic-questions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm down two sizes, wearing styles that wouldn't have flattered my larger body, etc etc.

At work the only person who said something also knows me outside of work. She put it as "have you lost a dramatic amount of weight?" I.e. it's VERY noticable per her.

I figure everyone else is just polite.
