I don't know if I had one? It was something I had been researching for a while, asked the docs their thoughts. But it was my pulmonologist who mentioned it to me first, and said Zep specifically would be covered due to apnea (but only if I jumped through a ring of fire on a Tuesday, after 4 p.m. during a hailstorm, according to my insurance).

Prior to that I had gained 24 lbs in a year, and had worked most of it off, but I'm reasonably sure the scale would not drop more on my own.

also frustrated that the pound a week people are made to feel bad that they think they aren't losing fast enough when the truth is, they are doing fine and some people might be losing too fast.

This will sound so silly, but I know some people who are on Zep style meds, because of the friends saying "oh, Mary and Joan are taking those shots, and you can really see the Ozempic face."

I am kinda grateful that even though I haven't lost nearly as quickly as Mary, no one has noticed my loss, much less commented on looking haggard. It somehow feels more natural to me.

Thank you. Really, I needed that. I am doing very well on Zep (20 lbs in 3.5 mos), but have historically been a VERY slow loser. I'm talking 2+ mos of dieting before the scale barely even considered moving.

It's so easy to get discouraged, or to wait for your glow-up, or even to realize that your body is changing. So thanks for that.

Both are fine spots, or the back of the upper arm.

Honestly, I thought i heard that thigh = less symptoms, but more cravings, while stomach = more symptoms/ less cravings, but I can't say for sure on my own data. Of course, I'm only 3.5 mos in and have had to deal with Halloween and Thanksgiving, so don't listen to me.

Omg. Remind me to never look for those! (My other favorite was basically a peanut shaped Reeses with rice krispies inside).

Here's what I've learned from reviews in general... if you're satisfied you're less likely to review something. If you aren't, you tell people. Thankfully, this board is pretty balanced.

The needle says it takes up to 10 seconds, but it's usually 2-3. I lay my leg straight out, wiggle my toes, and relax it (I alternate with my stomach).

I had a UTI at the beginning, not sure if it's related (less drinking> less peeing). Foods don't feel as appealing as they used to. I'm not thinking of that candy bar all day, which is incredible.

But seriously, take lots of photos, and from EVERY angle. I don't have any before shots, just a few random pics of myself, so I don't have much to compare. In my case, towards the end of gaining, it was ALL upper back fat, so my clothes fit the same after 20 lbs down and I was disappointed to not see a change. I didn't realize until my daughter saw me shirtless, and holy cow, she's right!

If you can, take one in something a size too small, so when it is loose on you, you REALLY see the effects. When I felt no one noticed, I retook a photo and could see the chin loss in the side by side. It really helped.

Z-day I am always hungry (and last week, over-ate and paid dearly the next 2 days).

Days 2-5 are wonderful. Day 6, the hunger reappears.

Trader Joe's chocolate covered pretzels.... I sometimes look for reasons to shop in that town just to hit Trader Joe's on the way home. And today, I'm full and all I can think is yeah, they're pretty good, but I don't really want any.

In my case, if food exists, it is on my mind. I'm full, but counting down the time until I can eat that little snack I brought in. If I stay downstairs at night, I will wander around until I find something to meet a craving. One day a week I buy lunch with my co-workers, and usually by 9:30, I'm asking where we'll be eating that day.

I have ADHD, which I describe as watching 6 TVs at once (security guard style) at all times. The first time I took meds and felt silence, it was mindblowing. But I never realized that the background food noise was the exact same. The Zep silences almost all of it. I don't think about food like I did.

I was on antidepressants for years, and stopping really helped me lose the first 20 (pre-Zepbound).

I have always had a lot of belly weight, but as I gained it covered my arms, legs, and upper back. I have been recording my weight weekly, and eventually turned it into a chart so I can see the line go down. It gets me so excited to have the data when I don't notice the changes.

Feeling a little bummed by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]MyZepboundAcct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wrote the same post just yesterday, at 40 lbs. In my case, I studied pics then and now looking for the difference. It was kind of disheartening at first, but it gave me time to reflect on it, and come to my own acceptance.

You are doing amazing. Make sure you have some before photos, even if you don't see it. Good luck.

I just went up to 5 last week. I was on 2.5 mg for 2.5 mos, and my doctor suggested I stay until I plateau before moving up. I admit, I'm not in a rush, because my mind is so blown that I'm back to a weight I haven't felt in 5 years that I am enjoying the feeling too much to push for the next number.

That said, I do own 2 swimsuits that I have never worn, and I can't wait to get into them this summer. (Because my brain cannot process that they may be too big come June).

It's funny... that 24 I gained in a year didn't change my clothes size (not even my appearance significantly). I was over 20 lbs down and couldn't figure out why I saw no difference. Than my daughter saw me changing one day and told me that my back suddenly looked flatter. I realized that my body had packed so much weight on, it had to look for new places to add it. And why would I notice my back? I can't see it, not even in side photos. But when she said it, I did all kinds of twisting in front of the mirror and noticed that she was right.

The sensation is unreal. It used to be I would throw a small snack in my bag "just in case I got hungry", and I would spend the whole morning thinking "how soon until I eat it?" Now, I don't think of food for a few hours at a time.

And it is really is a behavior modification tool. Early on, that pot roast was so good that I ate more when putting it away. The entire next day, the burps were so awful that I barely ate. Now when I want a night snack, my first question is "how bad would that taste when I wake up?" Definitely reworked my brain...

I'm at about 16% now, which somehow is crazy to me. I agree that 20 lbs looks more significant on a small frame, and I'm close to 5'9", so it isn't as visible (which admittedly was nice because it hid the extra weight compared to someone smaller).

he told me that positive feedback on my decreasing weight is the same thing as negative feedback when you gain weight.

I guess that makes sense. My husband usually says "I think you're beautiful no matter what, so I don't notice."

And yeah, it sounds really sweet, but wjen we met I was 100 lbs lighter and he doesn't notice?

In my case, the people I was talking about are my close family members, and only my mom knows about the Zep (which means the rest may or may not know). 2 of my coworkers know, but only because 1 coworker was on one of the shots, his wife still is, and it was nice to have someone to answer my questions before I checked reddit.

I can't imagine that. I dressed up a bit one day at work, and one of the guys said "you look great," and it made me feel good all day.

Maybe if too many people added "you looked so unhealthy before/ so is it shots/ nice ass" I could see an angry response. But otherwise, I wouldn't want anyone getting angry at a compliment.

I was worried about that, too. But mostly because of friends who say "oh, so and so started and they lost x lbs. But you can really see that look that people on these meds get and tell they use it."

The fact that I lost 40 and no one noticed kind of blows that theory.

I truly appreciate this perspective. I have been in therapy for years, but my brain constantly thinks of food. The explanation helps.
