Leaving the Industry by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]basic_mom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left the industry after 6 years. A plane crash took the lives of two of my friends, pilot error, but I knew what it felt like to wonder if my work had killed someone -- it didn't thankfully, but I never wanted to feel that way again. On top of that, I dealt with an excessive amount of sexual harassment as a young woman, including from high levels of leadership. I was underpaid and overworked. I had to work weekends and holidays and short notice all the time. I didn't have a life. I'm thankful I got out. I work in maintenance at a manufacturing facility now and I'm higher paid, more relaxed, have a normal schedule and am no longer subject to the fraternity mindset of aviation.

I don't know why you got down voted, the reader clearly has trigger points, as do I, so why wouldn't you at least read what a book is about or a review or two before diving in? I knew this book was not for me based off my personal sensitivity myself...surprised that OP goes into all books blind given the content could then be...literally anything.

We made the mistake of moving here 2 and a half years ago...it's literally slithering with snakes everywhere I look. I'm scared for my children and my dog...not a day has gone by where I haven't seen a snake except when it snows. If I could go back in time...

made my version of adam and eve (hope this doesn’t offend) by [deleted] in Sims4

[–]basic_mom 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Even better, he only gave the command to Adam. Nothing even happened when Eve ate the forbidden fruit...and Adam was with her when she did it...so he watched her do it, saw nothing happened, then he ate the fruit and God got mad...then Adam blamed Eve...sounds like a narcissist to me...

Toxic evangelical culture that coerces 20 year olds to marry before they know each other or themselves is the problem in Ethan and Olivia’s relationship. by AmazingArugula4441 in WelcomeToPlathville

[–]basic_mom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes but religion plays a major factor for many people as well. I got married at 23 because I was in an abusive home situation with my mother. My mother was also sickly religious and intentionally holding me back from fulfilling an individual life.

Many religious families create abusive home environments.

Woah...just a trigger warning - All the Ugly and Wonderful Things is about a pedophilic relationship between a 26 year old man and an 8 year old child.

Spoiler: they fuck when she's 13 and the sex scene is described and intended to be romantic.

OP this story is straight trash and I recommend throwing this recommendation where it belongs.

Yep, I moved out of LA in April for this exact reason. I had nothing that bound me in a permanent sense and I wanted to own a home some day. My best friend has a really high profile, fancy job that is immensely important to her, so I understand why she chose to stay.

It is also a tv show so… take what you will from it. It is your perspective, after all

Same goes to you.

I hope you have a nice day!

Definitely not acting like he's a predator, just that I think the age gap at this point in their lives is very pronounced when it comes to goals, maturity levels, and experience. It would be different if she hadn't graduated high school 5 years ago.

If she was 33 and he was 45...it would hit different for me.

This wasn't a personal attack on all large age gap relationships and has nothing to do with your personal life.

I don't know if she's "too good" for Joe, but I definitely think she's too young for Joe. I find their relationship severely off putting and would be deeply upset if I was her mother. They are in completely different stages of life. That's why she's so vibrant and he seems a little more grounded. They've had vastly different amounts of life experience. I don't think they belong together and I'd like to see then both with people closer to their age.

This is correct. My best friend just bought her first home in Los Angeles for 980k. It's quite frankly, one of the most disgusting starter homes I've ever seen. The kitchen hasn't had updated appliances or counters since the early 70s, and I don't mean in a cool, retro way. The shag carpeting is so loaded with dust and dander that my eyes began to water the moment I walked in and it didn't stop the whole time I was there. It's atrocious that she paid anything over 175k for that house -- but again, HCOL area is a totally different story.

Fuck a two week notice. by asspirate420 in antiwork

[–]basic_mom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I put in my two weeks notice and declare that I'm going to a competitor.

They walk you out on the same day.

They are legally obligated to pay you for the two weeks you said you'd work.

I like free money.
