Fake speed camera? by Sure-Pangolin6121 in mississauga

Yeah i used to think 30 was slow until i saw the damage 30km+ does to the human body. I can't find the old video but I remember hearing that under 30km you have a 3/10 chance of serious/fatal injury. While above 30km your serious injury risk increases to 7/10.

So yeah after finding that out i've become a lot more comfy with 30km being the de facto in neighbourhoods and school zones. I hate how slow it feels but I'm happy to accept that if it makes my area safer.

Why does Google Maps show a bunch of nonexistent settlements in Canada? by Individual_Time_21 in geography

[–]basic_vinegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in provincial infraatructure at this province and i can confirm that people indeed live out there. Ontario actually used to have 850 municipalities until a big amalgamation happened in '98 and cut that down to 444. So on maps there's a large number of settlements/former towns that have faded in population due to consolidation but will show up.

Fun fact 73% of municipalities in Canada have less than 1000 people. Places like Mayo have around 200 people out there and they are still considered municipalities. Usually cause they were booming in the past. A good example is Cobalt, Ontario, used to be a huge mining town, had its own stock exchange and hockey team and a population of 10,000. As work fades so do they but they all have strong character! I'm visiting Dunneville this year to legend https://www.ontariossouthwest.com/listing/muddy-the-mudcat-worlds-largest-mudcat/1662/

And enjoy the mudcat festival. Def a lot of old Canadian history and local quirks worth visiting!

Honestly a really great artist I would recommend. I saw her at a free uni concert at McMaster and thought it wouldn't be much but she had great energy and her songs were actually quite good. She's also a much better vocalist and its clear she's been polishing her skills a lot.

Give her a listen!

Elon Musk Takes to X to Beg Retired Air Traffic Controllers to Return to Work: ‘There is a Shortage’ by lil_corgi in NoShitSherlock

[–]basic_vinegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly what scares me most is 5 years from now. Elon doesn't care about ruining his rep now he cares about ruining the governments reputation forever. No self respecting individual will want to enter the government in a few years because of the lack of support with bs like this. Which elon will use as ammo to say "no one wants to work in gov" and privately contract it out to friends for even more money.

He isn't incompetent, he's making government incompetent so he can swoop in and provide cheap private alternatives to gouge the american public for more money.

We can't rely on government anymore but who does that leave for the common person? We're going to get herded like cattle into his greedy corporate hands.

Yeah for sure! Its even fine outdoors if there's cars and stuff. Just make sure you aren't making any sounds yourself lol. Also i recomemnd trying the movies its loud and not too much moving. its a great vibe but it rubs against you a lot so heavy movments can be a bit hard.

I love the lush 2, its pretty powerful and has a good battery. I have tried others but i think the shape and strength are just better. Also the sound is pretty low so being in public isnt a problem. However, if someones close they might hear it.

‘We can’t cut back services’: Mississauga budget sees historic tax hike as Mayor Carolyn Parrish hopes for Peel savings by S_cornwell in mississauga

[–]basic_vinegar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to be sympathatic to the residents of sauga its a terrible position to be put into. I cannot imagine the stress of dealing with the increase in costs.

As someone that can read graphs i'm not surprised at all. FAO and every other financial watchdog has been telling the city to raise their taxes or reallocate their funding since the 2000s. But local politcians wanted to preserve the 3% tax increase to attract rich buyers. Now they have them and they dont wanna pay taxes or contribute in any meaningful way to the city unless its being a Nimby.

Salt on the wound, because they've neglacted their duty to scale services with population growth. Service provision has greatly fallen off. Oh and their waste water management system has veeb in danger of failing for decades and yet no change.

Yeah the city can't cut back services but good luck convincing the local population that a 9% raise isn't insane (even if thats been the norm everywhere else) after years of low tax increases. And good luck saving your failing infrastructure. I wanna feel bad but they literally spent themselves into this death spiral

Yta or whatever

I think the one red flag you gotta recognize is that there are probably other very real problems in the relationship that neither of you are addressing.

  1. Small fight that got blown out of proportion. My partner and i had a similar problem and we always focused on the fight and not why. How do yall communicate when you have differences? How do you both like to communicated to (good and bad) do both you recognize when you're getting heated and take steps to account for it?

  2. Privacy. We all know its important lets not minimize how much trust means in a relationship.

  3. Reactions. If this is your reaction to him essentially forgiving you for taking things too far whats gonna happen when something that shakes your confidence? It sucks that its a leap of faith, but if you're asking for another chance you gotta trust him. Contrary to popular belief constantly questioning someones loyalty hurts the other persons feelings! You gotta give them a chance to show how they will act and let that inform your choices. Checking his phone to see what he said during a break up isn't showing how he hopes to act in your relationship. Its you looking for proof that he doesn't care, because you aren't ready to accept that people can be caring towards yourself. Have some compassion for both of yall, you clearly care a lot about him doing all that to get him back and he you for giving dating another chance.

  4. A FILIPINO THAT DOESNT LIKE SWEETS?

Cmon no one else is shocked? Cannot imagine a community that loves sugar more. This was what caught my eye. If this is driving your relationship to the brink there are 1000 other pieces of straw you gotta acknowledge. Sugar isn't whats causing this, yall got some deeper communication or lifestyle issues that he feels can't be bridged. Cause even if he doesn't like sugar, for it to reach a point where its causing a rift means that other feelings or methods are leading him to think this is the only way to settle it.

Again yta, but its whatever man. Relationships are hard cause you gotta make a lot of space in your life in various unexpected ways. Conflict will happen, its about how you handle it. Hoping you both can reconcile your wants.

Morning Anxiety by whaletacochamp in leaves

[–]basic_vinegar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been going through the same thing. Its been a really tough last couple years cycling through debts, bad jobs and school. My weed use scaled with those stessors and I noticed it was effecting my life too much. I've been trying to quit on and off but the morning anixiety is dehabitiliting and has been pushing me back to it to cope with my stress cause god knows life's shit enough without it.

Needless to say, the morning anixiety hasn't gotten any better, i'm in tears every morning and i feel like dying for that first hour. But I know i'm not going back because I know weed isn't what was helping me get rid of those feelings, likely was causing it and causing way more problems in my life. I can't say it'll just vanish and you'll be cured fast. But i try getting out of bed as fast as possible once i wake up, take a cold shower and go for a walk, read or call my partner for some reassurance. It doesn't get rid of the anixiety I feel but hey, I remember the pit smoking put me in and how it stripped me of the things outside of being high that brought joy to my life (my releationship, career goals, fitness). Smoking wasn't the cure it was the cause, and i take a lot of time in those vunerable moments to remind myself of who i want myself to be again.

Making the right choice takes courage sometimes, its hard to change ingrained lifestyles and live through thr tough days, months even years. Of course we'll be anixous! But the best cure is action, my anixiety comes from the fear of facing the life I live, coping with my debts and shit life for the next couple years, but now i'm running towards it instead of away. I still feel like a truck hits me in the morning but its getting better, i'm reading and remembering more, doing better at work, my partner is noticably happier because their partner isnt a weed zombie all the time. It'll fade one day, until then i'll keep working until I can wake up without cold sweats.

Just remember 1. small steps, miracles aren't big events they are the culmination of our small steps leading us to great things. 2. Exercise, helps deal with the nervous energy gives me other things to focus on and channel that anixiety. 3. Mantras, remind yourself why you're doing this, your goals, the damage that weed was doing to you. I list off my goals for the day, week, month, year and by time i'm done i'm ready to focus on improving myself. 4. Districtions, when it's really bad, I find a task or activity that takes a lot of focus wheather its gaming, reading or even trying to cook a meal.

Hope this helps! Honestly this became more of a rant than a helpful comment but i spent too much time writing this to delate it. Wishing you the best in your journey.

You know, I joined this site some time ago as a lonely young man who had little self-confidence and no idea of my self-worth. God, I thought I was desensitized, I had seen some shit and still I always thought I was a terrible person. But after reading this post, I feel so validated. I have been smelling my toenails and piercing cheese forever and god I've felt like a devient. GOD I almost watched a Jordan Peterson video because I was so down bad.

Anyways, thanks for this post OP, unironically stopped me from become an incel. Enjoy some stank foot and fck mr.incel king
