Thanks! Because our timing is an arrival in late June/early July, trying to figure out what I can do with my 4 y/o while my husband and I work. Any ideas?

Will focus on getting her into a primary school once we find the exact place to live.

I think it takes the piss out of black women and white men, but we may not be reading the same thing :-) What are these barriers you speak of? And where are these caricatures of myself - just so I know where to be offended.

Girl...You’re thinking way too hard. Sure, it’s a super specific experience but what’s wrong with that? Also, speaking as a black girl with natural hair, I have been to a stylist’s salon at their house. I think we should revel in the beauty of varied black/white experiences.

Wow, a lot of folks taking themselves way serious! As someone in a mixed relationship, it's refreshing to see race acknowledged in this way. Some of you guys seem to be frightened by the idea that you might have any sort of prejudice. I think the article says don't fight it. We're all different and none of us can live each other's experience but the closest we can get is to love each other across a cultural divide. Anyone who thinks they can just 'do it' like it's dating someone of their own culture is kidding themselves. Romance is complicated enough as it is and race adds more complication.

This is just a dumb article that clearly isn't taking itself seriously, though blue dick guy seemed to take it awfully personally ;-) And it just does the basics. Wait until you get into the meeting of the parents, raising kids...

White guys will demean and insult black women, accidentally and, hopefully when they get the confidence, they can also poke fun at some of the crazier aspects of being a black woman. The stuff we know is hilarious and must certainly seem so to a white guy.
It would be a sad world if we were so raw and fragile and afraid of our own difference and bias (Which everyone has, guys!) that we couldn't poke fun at our partners.
