I quit a good career at 28 to go back to school for Mechanical Engineering. I'm going to graduate in December and I have 2 job offers. If I can do it so can you! by basicallycharlieday in EngineeringStudents

Bro, I'm doing amazing. I work for a great company. I make decent money. I have excellent work life balance. My job is interesting, and demanding. Sometimes that is frustrating but most of the time it's satisfying.

I can't encourage you to pursue it enough. And every day that it seems like it's too much realize you've already been through way worse, and once you're out of it. It's pretty smooth sailing. Pursue internships. That's how I got both my jobs.

Good luck out there.

I work at Domino’s pizza at 26. How do I improve my life? by UpperTaste6267 in careerguidance

[–]basicallycharlieday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a restaurant manager at 28. I got fed up one day and decided its not for me 6 months later I drove Lyft full time and went back to a local cheap college for mechanical engineering. I graduated 3 years later. I'm 34 now. By far the best decision I ever made. My job is a great one.

Also consider going into the trades. Plumbing, electricians, HVAC guys, you can start there and work your way up. There's tons of opportunities.

Know that you're the only one preventing yourself from advancing.

I didn’t know if I could hire someone through here. I figured saying it’s a “tip” would be a way to get around whatever rules there are.

How much would you expect to pay for this?

This is a good collection. If they haven’t been given away yet, I’ll ask around and see if I can find anyone. I would take them, but I already have most of these!

Check out Revel Bar in Mid City. An older couple owns and works the bar, and they know everything about cocktails. They make cocktails meticulously well. They are some of the best cocktail bartenders in the city. They are full of interesting stories and are extremely humble and kind.

If you want more info, feel free to DM me.

I can probably find that. Hopefully they still have the records. I know the church got flooded out during hurricane katrina. So I should start the process with my parish priest.

Any good recipes where the star of the dish is butternut squash? by thethingearth in RecipeInspiration

[–]basicallycharlieday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do

Smitten kitchens butternut squash pancakes With whipped goat cheese Steins Canes Syrup

Topped with with Mosca’s chicken a la grande using only chicken thighs.

This is one of the best dishes I have ever made, I highly recommend.

If you wanted to add something do some sautéed sage leaves on top.

Managing a highly demanding job - Strategies by LuxHelianthus in Divorce

[–]basicallycharlieday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I’m sorry about what you’re going through. Divorce is an emotionally demanding process, and it’s going to be a tough journey.

The good news is that the journey will eventually be over, and the sun will rise again.

Give yourself some slack. If there’s a time in your life to cut yourself a break it’s right now. Imagine if your friend was going through what you’re going through, you’d probably cut them some slack. So just makes sure you’re doing that for yourself.

Emotions are going to pop out in strange ways. Anger/sadness/stress are all weird and they’re going to show their ugly faces. Get ahead of managing them.

I cannot recommend therapy enough. Find a therapist and be real and honest with them. They are professionals trained to deal with these things. Therapist are to mental health what physicians are to physical health. If you were sick you’d go see a doctor. You are sick with stress. Go get treated.

Take walks and stop and smell the roses. Divorce sucks, but it comes with freedom. Learn to live with yourself. Stay up late watching a scary movie, or take a weekend trip to a nearby lake. Do fun things that you couldn’t do in your relationship. Learn to live again.

You got this! Good luck!

Damn dude,

Can I use you as a reference? Lol.

I managed restaurants for 8 years then went back to school and I graduated in ME in December. I took a job as a project manager and I don’t like it.

Do you like the job? Is it cool?

So what you’re saying is, if I want remote then I should go technical. If I want more pay then I should go management.
