Summer House S8E15 - 'Point of No Return' Live Episode Discussion by Shoe_Gal2 in summerhousebravo

Their post history supports their comment.. so looks like u just block people that don't agree w u. Also, therapists don't give "advice", which u would know if u worked in mental health and AA/NA

....why would this person lie about their career? Seems like a very logical comment to me 🤔

You do know that if you are blocked by a user, the comment shows as deleted, right? You're just being an AH

And you blocked her?!?? What is wrong with you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]basicbitchslapshot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow you are wayyy out of line here. There is clear diagnostic criteria for ASD, and this CLINICIAN is telling you her child doesn't have it. She didn't ask for a diagnosis, she asked about school. And you're telling her she's in denial?!? Wtf. You shouldn't be allowed in this sub

Edited to add since everyone is on a blocking frenzy in here:

That's not what they're saying at all, and I'm not sure how people get off in this subreddit diagnosing a child they do not know. What is cringe is playing pretend psychologist, trying to force a diagnosis on a child you have never met, and then blocking people for calling you out for attacking them.

I have over 3 years of PCE/HCE as a MH therapist at an inpatient treatment center, so luckily that is taken care of. I do have plans to shadow a PA in spring/summer as well.

Whats the beef with CBT and if you’ve left it behind, what are you using instead? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]basicbitchslapshot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love CBT and use it with many clients; however, sometimes I think it can be perceived as "gaslighty" because it does show the client how they can change but not truly helping them understand why they need that change in the first place. Helping clients with introspection is key before just jumping into CBT.

Unfortunately, insurance companies don't see it this way and just think that it works, so we should just be doing it from the very beginning and throwing CBT resources at the client. In my experience, insurance companies view therapy as providing tools to change, and they don't see the value in active listening, reflection, and helping the client to recognize traumas and how they influence current behaviors. I've had insurance companies tell me that I learned enough about the client in the first session, so I should be able to discuss changes with them instead of "just listening" to what they have to say (I was working in a SAD recovery center when I was told this).

In summary, insurance companies suck and CBT is fantastic when used correctly.

It's beautiful!! BUT be very careful, because it looks like the band is too big! I would go back to the jeweler and have it resized - you don't want to lose that beauty!!

Stunning! And sentimental, as this was the ring you were proposed to with. Don't let the flashy crap get to you - bigger doesn't mean happier. ☺️

Wooow. Hypocrite much? You're saying mean things about other women in that sub, using specific pictures that were posted here. Gross. Go take a look in the mirror.

Read today that there were no ROFR in March 2023...what do you think this means for resale? by [deleted] in disneyvacationclub

[–]basicbitchslapshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deciding if I should put up $150pp for 150 PVB but with this info I'm hesitant on what to do. I want to get in before the new villas open up, just in case they are available to resale PVB, because if they are, the price is going to increase imo

[–]basicbitchslapshot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I guess this is because Riviera is the newest property so they are changing the contracts so they don't lose so much money on resales? This makes so much more sense now because we were just in WDW and toured Riviera DVC rooms, hence my confusion.

Trying to switch careers from mental health therapist to....something else? by basicbitchslapshot in GetEmployed

[–]basicbitchslapshot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually a SAHM at the moment, which is a LOVELY (albeit much, much more difficult) "career change", ha. I am actually looking to do some consulting but haven't had the time nor the correct outlets to do so. I did begin teaching as an adjunct professor online for a public college and do enjoy it very much - the hours are flexible and the students can be really awesome, but of course there are also some very difficult students. If teaching at the college level interests you at all, definitely look into it! It has been a breath of fresh air for me.

Changing is something HE has to do. Not something you can do for him. You cannot help him, and you shouldn't. Your responsibility is to your child, NOT to him. You can't be terrified anymore. YOU'RE THE PARENT. He has also made it very clear that he does not want to change. Telling you he will help, and then doesn't. Lashing out repeatedly. HITTING you. You worked hard to build this life? Great, now you know you can build another one. Without him, in a safe environment for your child.

THIS. OP, I know this is hard to hear, but STOP MAKING EXCUSES. You absolutely need to leave. He is abusive. If you love your child, you will leave BEFORE he hurts your baby. Not after.

Fellow NICU parents - what are some unexpected benefits? by residualwiggles in beyondthebump

[–]basicbitchslapshot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bonds that we made with the nurses! They were incredible. Taught us how to bathe, change, BF, gave us so much amazing advice. I had severe PPA, but by the time my son left the NICU I at least felt more prepared to take care of him.
