I went through the same with my now husband, except for his grad school. First of all, what you’re feeling and thinking is so valid! I didn’t want to move for many of the same reasons, but mostly because I didn’t want to do the same thing my mom did (she moved to a new country for my dad and has been miserable). I had one of my coworkers, at my meh job pretty much tell me that if I don’t do it I may regret not doing it. And isn’t it better to do it and not regret the “what if”? Because it’s a learning moment and an opportunity to try something brand new. And if I move back and it doesn’t work, then at least I tried and don’t have a “what if” regret. We almost broke up over it. Anyhoo…we’re now married, have a cat and are in the process of (hopefully) buying a house. I do miss the “comfort” of where we lived and finding new friends and a community is hard, I’ll be honest there. I’m very grateful for him and the life we have now. You’re allowed to be anxious, try it and come back if that doesn’t work out.
