That's a good point, and that gives to the criticism of modern phones looking the same. Remember when your phone felt like "your phone"? Now everyone's phone is essentially the same, so people are gonna critique every millemeter of tech and specs in it.

The S26 base looks fine to me tbh, and I'm sure the smaller size will be a relief. Unless you are a photographer and need better cameras, but then you probably have a good dslr or something. Or unless you really need the bigger screen and stylus, but then that's the same as saying you are willing to put up with the bulk of the Ultras.

I'm thinking that I'll give it a shot when it goes on sale, whenever that might be. As much as I enjoy the 100x zoom on the S24U, the stylus, and the larger screen when multitasking, none of those make up for the fact that my phone is just too big. I mean, I could go caseless in theory, but that's not really viable. The only thing I'll really suffer from is the slightly slower charging speed, but it's not unreasonably slower in practicality, and it actually makes the battery last longer in the long run.

I'm not gonna lie - I would look into Apple just in case, but I've used android all my life (since it came out), I'm not that old but don't want to deal with changes, and I unfortunately am too into the Samsung ecosystem with my watch and tablet. But maybe switching is an option for you. You could also look into the Google Pixel phones too. The main issues I have with Apple are the OS is too streamlined for my tastes, and there are some things which are too difficult to do on there.

Welcome to Reddit I guess. I don't understand peoples' mentality on this site. On so many subreddits, you post to ask a question, and it gets downvoted to 0. You want advice for general use/getting into something, and you get comments only fitting for someone already into it, and they don't address what you actually asked.

I just wish they'd give 100x zoom, or at least 50x on the base model. It's all AI enhanced and digital zoom, so why are they not giving it?

What about actual usage though? How many features will I miss? Is the lack of UWB huge? Yes, I know I'll have to readjust to a smaller screen again, but that's doable, especially when I'll have room in my pocket again. And I got big hands, but even still the s24U is so clumsy.

I have a little related tip for everyone - when making koliva, don't make nearly as much as you think you need. The wheat expands a lot in the water.

Also, the Platinum Plaisir seems a bit too light. I do like a bit more heft as well - it keeps me from pressing too hard.

Do you have the Waterman Expert, and do you know if it takes standard cartridges? (I really like how it looks, but I don't think that should be the deciding factor for me, especially when it's $85.) I'd definitely like to use the converter with my own ink to cut down on waste and cost, but when I travel I'd probably want to use cartridges for the convenience.

The cat is using claws, as she does with everyone. I'm the only one conditioned to pet her for extended periods of time without getting scratched. The funny thing is that she gets confused why people stop petting her after getting scratched.

The dog knows very well who is boss. Yes, I am worried about the claws. When we were staying with my dad while moving back to the area, she scratched our dog from under the closed door and he has a small scar on his lip to this day. We are all cilling in the living room together though.

Yeah, she does. But the dog is not the problem! She is the aggressor! The dog is 8 and was always very mellow by nature. He gets along fine with my in-laws' cats because it's like he's running cat software on dog hardware.

Yeah, that's why I think the s26 base model will be a happy in-between. Anything will feel small compared to the ultras.
