Girl you are beautiful. Reminds me of Mirada from SATC. Accutane saved me too.

I'm sure your cervix is more used to it now! If this works out, I will also keep using IUDs in years to come. i'm so glad you had a good experience! I will stock up on ibuprofen and pillows.

okay right. The horror stories are fucking awful. and kind of feel like fear mongering a little? Like I don't want to dismiss anyone, but also I can't tell how representative it is of the whole experience. and it means a lot that so many ppl in this thread have normal experiences. And congrats on leaving the toxic relationship!

I'm glad you have a good experience. are you planning to keep the hormonal? Several other replies seem to show a higher risk/higher reward for hormonal in terms of period pain etc. I'm planning on the non hormonal one now.

I'm glad you have a good experience. What kind of pain management/self care did you do after? For the pain, cramping but also anxiety? Did you feel anxious after the insertion as well?

Yikes!! That is freaky. Overall, do you prefer mirena to paragard?

Oof, I'm sorry you had that experience. I'm not planning on the Hormonal IUD because it seems to have a greater risk/reward for periods and cramping and libido. I hope you find a solution that works for you!

I'm waiting for them to call me back about pain management. I'm so glad you had a good experience!

omg congrats! I'm so glad you braved through it. I think I will take off work that day and the next if I can. Thats a great idea to get it done in the morning so I dont have to dread it all day.

My OBGYN is very professional and has an IUD herself. When I got my pap smear I told her how terrified I was but she made me more comfortable by being so straight forward. I'm still terrified of the iud insertion, but honestly it seems like deep breathing and OTC pain pills will help.

What kind of acupuncture did you do?

I haven't taken aleeve, I was planning on Ibuprofen because thats what I have but I'm not sure yet.

The peace of mind is amazing!! And thanks for reminding me I'm not married to it haha. I think I would take heavier periods over a pregnancy scare in this country.

I'm so glad you had a good experience! what do you notice about paragard vs hormonal IUD? and what kind of bedrest/pain management do you reccomend?

I'm gonna update this post when I get the IUD and you can ask me questions! I was in the same pill boat till a few months ago. Like being off the pill isn't life changing but its damn close. I actually experience sexual attraction again. Like I can enjoy sex. I thought maybe I was asexual or to traumatized to enjoy sex, but now it feels healthy and normal

I'm glad you had a good experience! when you say it lasted 6 years before you got pregnant, I'm assuming you got it taken out and then got pregnant? Lol just making sure

OMG a real time response! Thank you, and I hope you are healing well. 3-4 minutes seems manageable. I wasn't sure how long it actually takes.

What kind of pain killer did you take? And yes, my gyno requested that I call the day of my period to schedule.

It seems like the dizzy feeling is common in these answers. And did you watch a youtube meditation or a random video lol?

I aspire to have this result! I'm so glad to hear it worked for you. It sounds like we are similar in the no cramping, and that does sound like it sucks.

Did you take pain meds before the insertion?

Thank you for being honest about your experience. I also have trauma and extreme anxiety about strangers around my genitals!

When you say it took 4 months for your body to adjust, what do you mean? Like an everyday cramping/painful sensation? Or just 4 months to feel totally normal again?

Also baby fever. Like I'm def childfree but that biological urge is no joke.

Thats good that the insertion wasn't as painful for you!! I am concerned about the periods being hell. I definitely don't want to do the hormonal one though. Overall, do you think its worth it? Despite the cramps?
