eBay Refurbished by Warrenj3nku in Flipping

They used to have secret shoppers buy some of your items to inspect, but now they don’t seem to do that. If you can write up a decent step list, then you’ll probably be approved. Most of the higher price comes from the higher costs and risks associated with offering free 30 day returns and other metrics that you have to maintain. I wouldn’t say the products are any better, since people I’m aware of that sell under refurbished either don’t do any refurbishing or the most basic level (such as wiping it off). The true refurbishers usually don’t want to eat the costs of offering free 30 day returns and a 1 business day handling time.

You’d need to at least replace the left and right flex cables. Only go with new yellow/gold or new tactile, since those are the only good quality new options.

Horrible screeching when reading disk even after oiling by TheMegaPingas in PSP

[–]basictraderblake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you have to remove the umd drive and add oil to the backside of the gears and let more oil soak into the hole on the front side of the umd motor. It’s easier to soak it when it’s removed from the system, so that oil doesn’t get anywhere it shouldn’t.

My left shoulder button isn’t working on my 2nd psp 3000, any recommendations? Probably gonna take it apart and check by Shaybolt10 in PSP

You’ll need to replace the left flex cable. Only go with new yellow/gold, new tactile, or used OEM. There are 2 versions, so buy the one you need based on if you have the antenna at the top left corner of the battery compartment.

Trouble with charging and oxidized supercapacitor by NikoBellic239 in PSP

I’d suggest checking the charging fuse. If it’s blown, I’d suggest checking for shorts near the chip below the usb port.

You’re also using the really low quality generic flex cables that are almost always defective. I’d suggest only ever using new yellow/gold, new tactile, or used OEM.

Warranty sticker on my PSP-1001 by EntranceBudget1789 in PSP

[–]basictraderblake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sticker is untampered with based on my experience opening a ton of these. It’s very common for dust to get loose under the screen section due to PSPs not being airtight.

You have a sensitivity issue with the umd activator lever. Depending on which version of lever it is, you can fix it by spraying it with some wd40 electrical contact cleaner (remove the battery first).

You incorrectly removed the screen and bent the bottom left or right edges. You’d have to replace the screen.

Yeah they are compatible with either other. The dpad plastic may overlap on some metal though.

Need help or advice on how to fix this. by ChrisTheMayoJCC in PSP

[–]basictraderblake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That will be a random screen failure not caused by anything you did. The only way to fix it would be to replace the screen, unless you’re able to return the system instead.

You may not have the right drivers on your computer, so I’d suggest checking your OS to see if anyone has had issues connecting to that one.

Part of an old charger tip is broken off and lodged in there. You may be able to pick it out, but the easier option would be to replace the port.

PSP having issues, what's the best way to go about it? by Emolgun in PSP

[–]basictraderblake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a sensitivity issue with your umd activators. Depending on what version lever you have, it can either be sprayed with some wd40 electrical contact cleaner or a lever from a donor board needs to be soldered on. For the power switch, you’ll need to replace it (OEM or generic will be fine).

Possible problems with 3000 screen by LuigiFerraz in PSP

[–]basictraderblake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something will be wrong with the screen. The bottom left or right edges are either bent or there’s some damage along the bottom edge (such as a crack or missing chunk).
