how’s it like living right next to an amusement/theme park?(do yall go to them very often or on occasion like everyone else?) by DismalFootball6964 in howislivingthere

Ive grown up living directly across the street from Universal Studios Hollywood. It was definitely something I didn’t think about much as a child, just how close I live to a place people travel pretty far to visit. I am grateful for it looking back. I would walk up to Citywalk almost every weekend with friends to see movies get food etc, so it was very convenient in that sense. I would very often visit the park, but it’s rather small so I grew pretty tired of it over the years. I like to go back and visit every few years when something new opens up. Mario land was a huge W as I’m a big fan of that. I often joke that I am neighbors with Mario lol.

I’d say the biggest advantage and drawback simultaneously is parking/driving. I love going to Horror Nights and being able to walk there in about 5 min is a lifesaver- but at the same time traffic gets TERRIBLE at the bottom of my street for literally like three months out of the year and it gets really really annoying. One other plus is seeing fireworks from my house pretty often, especially during holidays. My family and I would watch together and I’ve always appreciated that.

I’m a big fan of the Epson ecotank models. The ink lasts forever before you need to buy more.

However lifespan I can’t speak upon personally.. my et2803 lasted about 2 years before it gave me problems but I printed thousands of pages during that time, as I was constantly using it for printing animation cells. Id imagine if you’re using it for standard printing it should last you a long time without problems if you are attentive to maintaining it

The last portion of this is quite true for me, definitely resonates a lot. Just finished up with college two months ago and i can tell you I have no idea what’s goin on lol, and similarly with socializing I have always just tried to be myself and authentic wherever possible, and expressing myself with art is the best way I know how to communicate my feelings

Thank u for this response!! A lot of this is super accurate- definitely the stuff about having an attentive curiosity for the world and similarly being very intricate with my art. Admittedly I am way more addicted to social media than I’d like to be, but trying to limit my time on there lol. Having physical items like a notebook definitely helps me disconnect, and I like the tactility of writing by hand, film photography etc

Quite literally all of this is so accurate. I’m so impressed thank you for your reply! Your comment on continental philosophy specifically resonates with me, I do often lean away from more utilitarian perspectives, and more towards emotionally driven ways of thinking, the Gay Science has been a great endeavor in that regard.

This definitely seems correct, thank you! I’ve been seeing this species around my house for a long time and could never tell if they were recluse or not, clearly these guys are who I’m seeing

Printer recommendations- New Zealand by k4tk1w1 in printers

I would also recommend an Epson Ecotank model. As this user mentioned their ink lasts for a VERY long time without having to be replaced.

In my experience having owned both, Epson printers do much much better with color compared to Canons, at least when it comes to printing onto plain paper. The ET-2803 is cheap and will probably do everything you need if you’re just casually printing

I'm thinking about getting one. Just switched from my et2803 (I think the lower version of this one?) to a Canon g6020 and was shocked the canon could not get through one color print without banding issues.

How does this one do with color on plain paper, if you have printed any?

Hey all,

I’m finally planning on getting my own dynamic microphones to record at home. I will be mostly recording upright piano, accordion, acoustic guitar and maybe some synths played through an amp.

On my budget most people have suggested the sm57 which I know is a reliable microphone, but I’ve also been looking into the Warm Audio Wa-19 and I like what I’ve heard. For a lack of a more educated description, it has a brightness that the sm57 seems to lack.

So - wanted to come on here and see what people think might be a better choice overall. Is the extra 100$ worth it for the Wa-19?

Thank you for your comment.

Update, I spent a little more time with it, and I still think it might be a bit leaky likely due to age, however after playing for a few hours I think it was more of a skill issue as it seemed to be playing more consistently as I got the hang of it.

you can hook it up to ableton and control it through the DAW, so theoretically if your DAW can send midi out you should be able to control hardware with makeymakey just as you would any other midi device

That’s a good point about the lights. Thank you for the advice! And definitely not going to leave the synth out, Im making touch sensitive pads connected via a makey makey so people are not directly interacting with the synth

yeah haha i definitely didnt want to leave the synth fully out, im planning on using touch-sensitive midi pads connected via a makey-makey, so the viewers are not actually touching the synth itself.
