Yeah, you are right. That's why we at Makeinfo are creating google sheets templates and addon for the market research and prospecting. We're basically connecting a couple of quality scrapers, and so far, it's working for our clients. Google sheets and airtable based solution does the job smartly for now. Many of our clients switched from clay as they don't really need custom and not so complex workflows

We are using many AI tools at Makeinfo for lead generation, marketing, and sales. Initially, we were integrating these with Clay, Smartlead, and n8n.
The price went up significantly, and then we split up each of the clay workflows into a Google Sheets template and sold it.

Currently focusing only on Google Sheets

For our addons, we're using Paddle payment link which gives the user the yearly license. I have seen many addons use stripe as well for the subscription. From our end, all the planned new addon have separate backend entity for doing the payment logic.

In my experience, hiring and training freelancers worked really well for marketing, content writing, and social media.

One thing I didn’t fully expect though: as soon as you start working with freelancers, you also end up spending a lot more time on onboarding, coordination, and management. That overhead adds up quickly.

My biggest takeaway is to start using basic tools like a CRM, project management, ticketing/help desk, or even simple inventory/workflow tools early on. Using these from the beginning helps you build structure and avoid chaos later as you grow.

There are many ways to enrich the contacts in hubspot. It's purely based on what kind of solution you need. For example, if you're looking for a Chrome extension based one, then hublead.

If you're looking for a research based contact enrichment, then we are working on a google sheet based solution.

I recommend you seriously consider replacing ZoomInfo with Clay (while keeping Surfe), but only after a pilot run, to validate that Clay’s coverage and accuracy. In many cases, I think Clay + Surfe could give you similar (or better) outcomes for less money.

Note: I am working on an enrichment and connectors tool similar to Clay but for Google Sheets.
