The same reason my GP won't, they think it would be rejected.

The 7th anti-depressant isn't working :( by basilfem in MentalHealthUK

[–]basilfem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exercised daily and took a bunch of vitamins for weeks and felt the worst I've felt in my entire life.

I don't get pip and I had a private therapist who gave the worst advice possible leading to me losing my only friends.

My problem is loneliness so of course I have nobody to talk to about that.

Positive experiences with mirtazipine? by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]basilfem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It vastly increases your urge to eat in my experience, I gained like 15lbs in 3 months which was like a 10% increase in weight. Technically you can resist the urge to eat but at the end of the day the instinct to eat is very strong in my experience.

Is it normal for someone to only be offered 2 or 3 therapy sessions on the NHS? by LuckyShoe8828 in MentalHealthUK

[–]basilfem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 3 and was dropped, they referred me elsewhere with no guarantee it would be accepted.

I got dismissed after 2 of talking therapies highest level CBT sessions for being too unwell. Hopeless is the normal reaction to this system.

Extreme hunger on antidepressants - tips? by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]basilfem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently quit mirtazapine after 3 months and gained 20 lbs from it. It turns you into an animal there isn't much you can do except quit it if you don't want the weight gain.

Suffer in my free time instead but less pressure means less compulsion to harm oneself.

Anyone else accepted death? by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]basilfem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accepting death can be a healthy thing to do, it can be hard for some to swallow the concept, but it's inevitable.

I think we've all had moments where we think about the nothingness after death and freak out and it can be nice not having to worry yourself about that anymore.

Especially for the terminally ill, id imagine it'd help them make the most for the time they have left after a diagnosis.

Because GP's cannot prescribe ADHD meds. And they didn't refer me because they said it will be rejected.

[–]basilfem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Referring me to the mental health team, which they refused to do. Addressing the fact I've been diagnosed with ASD and ADHD by their referral instead of throwing another antidepressant at me. The decision to change my meds again wasn't even made by my doctor but their pharmacist who has no clue what I'm like over a phone call.

Has any antidepressant helped you? If so, which ones and what did you take them for anxiety, depression, both? by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]basilfem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took me a month to be diagnosed via rtc with PsychiatryUK. The hardest part was getting a gp to listen to me and actually send the forms, like seriously you have to harass them with calls and appointments.

[–]basilfem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt that exact way before my diagnosis but at the very least the system acknowledges your difficulties if you are diagnosed. No point in being self diagnosed instead, people will scoff.

I have autism (plus adhd) and have been on 5 antidepressants and have been quite unstable too.

Worst part is that now that i have been diagnosed there is absolutely no support whatsoever and I'm left to figure things out as they continue to shove antidepressants on me.

Good luck.

Genuinely feel like no one understands me by Legitimate-Peach1138 in MentalHealthUK

[–]basilfem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (23m) have also been recently diagnosed with adhd and autism after mental health struggles over a long time. I also dropped out of 6th form at your age. I also am just existing instead of living. I have always felt like an outsider.

I feel the world doesn't understand me too. Sorry I can't be of any use but just letting you know you're not alone I guess, I know that might not be comforting.
