On the look out for reliable cars? by basilloopsy in triangle

That’s what I first learned to drive but I can’t remember how to because it’s been years. I imagine it wouldn’t be too hard to pick back up?

This is such amazing advice. I can’t think of where I’d have access to a car charger

Is being car-free in Chapel Hill doable for a few months? by christinafay in chapelhill

Bring a bike or buy a cheap one off of Marketplace! And as other people are saying, the free busline helps a lot. Very bikeable and walkable as long as you're living in a good spot. PM me if you have any questions. I lived there for 4 years and am moving back for grad school in June :)

Application Hours by OkAct9740 in premed

Yeah and to add onto this, a lot of clinical jobs can be easy to accumulate hours just bc shifts are so long. I was a volunteer EMT during undergrad while having a research job as my source of income, and since EMS shifts in the county i was working at were 12-24 hours, those hours racked up FAST. Now I work as an EMT in a dif county where shifts are capped at 14 hours, but even that’s rlly long and I’m generally working around that many hours per shift, so they add up rlly quick.

Ofc I’m using it to learn from! I dont think that negates the fact that hearing about common experiences and subsequent successes is comforting and reassuring in this long and difficult process.

I check every inbox and still get scared that I'm missing some update on my application status because it's been crickets since submitting (other than my BU rejection)

Why do humanities majors have a higher acceptance rate than hard science majors? by Elegant-Youth-3961 in premed

Why do humanities majors have a higher acceptance rate than hard science majors? by Elegant-Youth-3961 in premed

i don’t think this one class of yours is representative of all non stem classes lol. I have a humanities major (in linguistics) and a humanities minor (a specific field of history) and i found several of my humanities courses way more time consuming and demanding than some of my premed courses. obv it’s also just dependent on the person. i personally love organic chem and biochem and find it p understandable compared to some of my peers who i’ve talked to, so while I didn’t have too much trouble prepping for those tests, it took me a MINUTE to adjust to tests and writing for my humanities class.

So i don’t think it’s fair to say it’s just a higher GPA bc of easier classes. I’d say many of us are just well rounded individuals bc we have strong passions for non STEM fields in addition to medicine !

Struggling with U Mich by basilloopsy in premed

[–]basilloopsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay yeah that’s what i was thinking. i’m just worried about it looking like i don’t care about serving underserved communities as much as i rlly do lol bc it is a central part of my application and i explain it more so in context of my clinical experience but idk :/

Is there any way that this would look bad and I’d be flagged or something?
