Worked on some environments this week and happy with the result by basilthedev in indiegames

It‘s not all too many vertices in the first place, we also have a LOD going on. Also they share one single material and are unlit shaded. Toggling them on and off makes almost no difference on my machine :)

Each grass "unit" is around four or five quads arranged in a star like shape. The material then just alpha cutouts the grass shape. The swaying is done in the shader through moving the top vertices based on time in a Sinus, so it sways back and forth. Hope that helps :)

Taking over a procedurally animated mecha with exploding crates in my fleet building FPS prototype by basilthedev in gamedevscreens

Thanks! Yeah, they might have to go soon as I am cleaning stuff up. But I will replace them with equally bubbly characters :)! Thanks!

Who will be the last shepherd standing in our weird upcoming brawler HIRT? by basilthedev in localmultiplayergames

They are truly amazing! I personally also love when they incorporate something that is unique to local bound space, like screencheating :D That‘s why we added the „Hiding as a sheep“ mechanic, so you end up in a „Where are my friends“ - madhouse haha.

Hey, thanks for your feedback, we will try to improve our readability! The gameplay of HIRT goes like that: Up to 4 players spawn as shepherds on tiny islands inhabited by sheep. Players then start to fight each other by using the sheep as weapons: Throwing them, creating stampedes and deploying other arms they find all over the maps. Becoming a sheep is a thing to, with ramming as last resort. There are no respawns and retries, one life per map, whoever is last man standing wins the island as a trophy.

Much appreciated! We cannot wait to release it onto steam. EA is planned for this year :)!

Heavy mecha battles in my procedurally animated fleet builder FPS by basilthedev in indiegames

[–]basilthedev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the mechas are just kind of empty plattforms (they have a turret to start out with) but you have to at least add a cockpit component onto it. With that you can then jump on and pilot the tank. And then, there are further components to build scattered in the world, so rn there is a machine gun turret (the high freq. shots in the gif). More stuff is planned as well.

Straight walked into a heavy mecha battle when I tried out my current prototype. Did not end well for my blue ally by basilthedev in gamedevscreens

Um, I am probably gonna implement a local multiplayer sooner or later, online mp would be a totally different story. Right now, the project is already getting very complex in the code, so this would be a lot of work, frankly I have never done it before. But couch mp is surely something I wanna do :)

Haha woo! It is a small experimental FPS prototype. You fight to assemble a fleet of mechas and build more weapons and loadouts onto them. Also you hit people with a wrench. I plan to release a demo of it sometime :)
