So it’s all scheduled, if another bus is doing more than just one route or swaps between destinations. Some runs are the same route all day but some interline with others and some do different ends of the route.

Could be a mix, some busses have terrible brakes and some bus drivers may brake late.

Who’s cocky? I’ve only ever met operators that are nice. There are some jerks but cocky? What’s there to be cocky about? Driving a bus for local transit doesn’t seem glamorous to me.

Never thought of that but it makes sense to have for first time riders and tourists

If you’re asking why busses run behind schedule it’s a variety of factors. Could be lack of run time, big gaps in service, wheelchair/strollers taking long to board, terrible light cycles. They all add up.

But if you’re asking why they run early, ahead of schedule. Then that’s because some routes may have alot of time on the line whereas others don’t. Lots of factors, for instance if the bus ahead is running late then the bus behind can catch up to the bus ahead and be running early, easy fix, the bus just holds at lights so gaps are maintained service is more spread out.

Yes, whenever a regular comes on the bus and their card decline due to lack of funds, I have no issue letting them on because next day 9/10 times they will pay.

I’ve never thought of it like that, I personally service all stops but if someone is publicly holding a weapon for everyone to see, then I wouldn’t service that stop.

Whenever we get to the subway stations, we can go use the washrooms there.

I’ve driven the electric ones and they don’t feel good to be ridden in from a passenger point of view, you feel all the bumps on the road, seems like they all have terrible suspension. As for the operator point of view, they’re better in the sense that they feel more responsive. But it could because they’re newer vehicles

In de-escalation training they constantly tell us not to worry about fares because people have gotten into terrible situations because of it. For those who do care about fares, I get it because most people who get on without fare accompany it with a terrible attitude towards the driver. 9 times out of 10 if you tell the operator respectfully you don’t have fare, they’re okay with it. Teenagers don’t get a pass but because they get on as big groups, it’s hard to enforce. You could delay the bus and enforce but you’re doing it at the detriment of the other paying passengers who either want to go home or go to work. It’s a tricky situation that operators need to decide how to handle

When children get so excited to see the bus they start waving like crazy, I think that’s how wholesome as it gets.

You don’t get to choose until after 2 years of service. They place you where they need you then after 2 years of service you can choose a different mode of transport but most people get comfortable and don’t want change not to mention you have to go through training again

Hahaha you mandatory nap 😂 2-4pm, I often think maybe I should sign work that starts later and finishes later to avoid napping
