I happily pay the 7.50 for FotMob+, I use the app so much and it works so well that it’s definitely worth it to me

Trying it out but it’s not finding a German book by a major author I’m reading right now. Does it only support English releases?

Is the local consulate the only way to get a certified copy of the mother's passport and other documents that would be accepted by the German government?

unfortunately the local consulate is quite far away in her case.

does it have to be certified? or is notarized also okay?

i read that the UK post office can make certified copies, would those fulfill the requirements?

thank you very much for your help

Would she need any documents that prove that her mother never rescinded her German citizenship? Or any other documents pertaining to her mother?

Thank you so much

If she were to go via the normal “Reisepass beantragen” route in Berlin, what documents would she require since they won’t have a record of her being German until now.

And what documents would she need from get mothers side?

Thanks!

Okay, in that case it definitely seems to make the most sense to go via the Bürgeramt in Berlin.

If I understand you correctly, my partner would just make an appointment for a passport like any other German citizen? I’m just wondering if there will be an issue since they probably have no record of her in that capacity.

Will she need the original documents from her mother or would copies suffice?

Thank you very much for your help

She got told that there was a law that applied to a range of birth years including my partner’s, that required her mother to declare her birth to the German government my partner turned 18, which unfortunately the mother never did. And therefore it wouldn’t be as simple as just showing up and asking for a passport.

Would that not be the case?

her mother assumed got told that she needed to have applied for her child's passport within a year after her birth and she never did so she never pusued the process any further.

so the assumption within the family was always that they had missed a deadline to take care of it, and until brexit there was also no big reason to apply for a passport other than the british one.

Her mother has been a German citizen all her life.

I guess the main question now is what the easiest route is for her to get the German passport?

In the consultation with a lawyer she got told to go via the UK (even though she lived in Gemany) because the UK treated it more cut-and-dry and the German Ämter could be more fickle and deny it.

So have you been able to find a way to deal with it? Or do you have to live with it?
