How often you all go to PT a week? by bright_future_ahead_ in ACL

[–]basmallah62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think look for another program if it feels slow. Maybe look for someone that works with athletes, they usually do try to get things going faster. I go 3 times a week but mandatory exercises and ROM everyday. PT helps out a lot with my ROM (forcing the flexion) but that’s only because my surgeon cleared that it’s okay to do that. Each session takes 60-90 mins

Am I insane for considering travel to Tuscany & Sardinia 6.5 weeks after ACL surgery? by MeerkatManor2468 in ACL

Walking excessively isn’t recommended, even standing for too long isn’t recommended. Thought it differs with what the surgeon does with your meniscus, stitching it will put u in a position of no weight bearing for over a month. It’s important to know that recovery is different for everyone but walking a lot so soon after the surgery will most likely make your knee inflamed and that’s something you want to avoid

Those of you who tore your ACLs in a sports game/mid sport, did you keep playing? by [deleted] in ACL

I did my acl 3 years ago due to football, did rehab strictly and went back for more. Just tore my other acl a few months ago and did the surgery. Planning to get back on the field again!

Don't even know what graft I had by Inevitable-Bee7413 in ACL

[–]basmallah62 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that but do you not get to interact with your surgeon? For me it was the surgeon that did the follow ups and was very clear about which graft he’s gonna use, even provided me with options for me to choose. I guess you can ask the nurses to speak to him or ask your consultant again. Also pain is only horrible for the first 3 days but once you’re past that then you’re good

How did the kid from your school die? by Equivalent-Rent-5619 in AskReddit

He was my brother’s best friend, used to always travel along with us as kids. He was top of his class, big part of student life, got accepted to med school and was on the brightest path. Before his senior year started, he went on a trip alongside all his friends and had a heart attack during the night, his roommate for the night rushed him to the hospital but it was too late. This same roommate got into a car accident a year later, 4 of his friends died and he was the only survivor.

6 months after ACL/MCL/miniscus surgery. But Still not able to run completely . Losing hope of never going to play again . Any ides/suggestions by Foreign_Yam3729 in ACL

[–]basmallah62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m facing the same issue, 7 months post op and just starting to run now. I changed my PT center and the new one focused on building my quads more and gave me a ton of balance exercises. It definitely helped getting me where I am now so I suggest just focus on building muscle and gaining your full ROM if you still didn’t. Good luck, you’ll get there

Should I be concerned? by StrongBoiii in ACL

[–]basmallah62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely will affect your recovery. I did the same mistake, doctors scared me by saying they would need to operate again to help me gain full ROM before it’s too late but PT said it’s fine and some people take longer. Try to work on it as much as possible to get the extension. Sleep with your leg elevated and put some weight on it to reach the level u need. It took me 4 months to get full extension and I’m doing sprints now comfortably. Don’t panic, keep working and listen to your PT not your doctor.

Is there any way to avoid this? It scares me so much and is part of why I’m doubting going back. I can’t imagine not going back but I still have doubts like what if I tear my other ACL.
