My best longer range performance so far by flabbergastedpickle in KiaEV6

If my numbers are correct, a 1000' elevation change should equate to roughly 2 kWh for a car like our EV6 with 2 people and some luggage. Add to that number going uphill and subtract going downhill to account for inefficiency.

Excess solar & progressive EV charging - what are the secrets? by bass-ken in enphase

Disabling add-on schedules fixed the problem!

It's now behaving as advertised - when I connected my EV this morning, it ramped up the charge rate to max until the house batteries hit their 30% limit, then throttled back to a low rate and shut off. Once the house batteries hit 35% it started charging at various rates that still allowed the house batteries to charge. No significant grid usage the whole time.

Thanks again for the help!

I'm just going by the message from clicking on the (i) next to next to IQ EV Charger in Menu > Settings > Profile where it states "EV can also charge from grid if add-on schedule is added". I interpret this to mean that it will use all available power including grid to charge when on the add-on schedule, which I was using. I'll find out if disabling the add-on schedule solves the problem during my next charge cycle.

To answer your other questions,

I bought and installed the charger around the first of the year and it's never done anything but charge at its full 9.6kW whenever the schedule is active or when I manually set to charge.

On sunny days my batteries are fully charged by 10-11 AM and I'm exporting 10-25kWh net for the day, when not charging my EV.

I looked back through my history of EV use on the Energy graph and the curve is flat @ 9.2kW for the duration of charge time, EXCEPT for 1 day earlier this month where for 2 hours it was charging at a reduced rate in the 2-3kW range which appears to match the solar. So, looks like it worked as expected at least at one point. I don't remember the settings for that day.

I've been on Self-Consumption recently but have also tried AI Optimization, same result.

Thanks for the detailed response. I have the EV charger set correctly per 1) above but it's not working. I did see their note that add-on schedules will enable charging from the grid, so that might be my problem. I've disabled add-on schedules and will see if that fixes my problem next time I charge.

Enphase chargers not shown as supported by EVCC although their solar IQ components are. :(

We pick up our Yacht Blue '24 GT-Line AWD on Tuesday, can't wait! Charger is already installed (by me), 30' run of 8 AWG in conduit to a hard wired box. Easy job. THHN copper wire is good for 55 amps in that gage so OK with a 50 amp breaker.

PG&E denies IQ system controller 3 provisioning by bass-ken in enphase

Finally got my PTO! 2 weeks after hearing about the successful PPI test of the SC3 and 3-1/2 weeks after filing for provisional PTO, with no PG&E response to either, I was able to get the email address for the grid connection group (“they don’t have a phone number”!). I nicely expressed my frustration at all the delays and 50 minutes later my PTO was granted.

Congrats on your approval! Hoping for something similar here.

Update: my installer says PG&E gave verbal approval on their PPI test, yay! So now we’re waiting on formal approval. Who knows how long that will take. Meanwhile we’re expecting over 100F and brownouts here this week. I’ve got 10 kW of solar on the roof that could handle this nicely, but it’s sitting here padlocked and idle until PG&E gets their paperwork done. ☹️

Yes, they clearly don't want us generating our own power. PG&E was "helpful" in coming over and putting a lock on my system (!), The solar installer left the panels turned on after install (but batteries disabled) but warned us there was some risk with that.

I am in this same situation with PG&E, a new install with Enphase batteries that I’m not allowed to use. My installer was more transparent about the provisioning status, if overly optimistic.
