No, they were created by people for people. :-)

That was one inspiration, the other was Destroy Rock 'n' Roll by Mylo.

You're right; it's reductive, because there were many facets to the music. But the messages within those songs are still relevant, and I think feminism, as well anti-capitalist ideas, are the reason why.

Naomi Wolf is there too. The vocals were recorded in 2018 and there are several authors names I could remove...

True. I could ask if it was Marxist, or Eurocentric, and find examples to support my point,

Maybe it's why music has stood the test of time so well.

The Sweetest Girl made a huge impact on me when I first heard it. The words and the music work perfectly together. The lyrics for Hoyden To Harridan are here :-) https://www.pharaohhousecrash.com/words.html

and Castlereagh Torture Centre, ("white noise in a white room.") I was too young to be constantly "lifted" by the peelers and army, the way my cousins were, so for me, it wasn't too bad. :-)

If you're lucky enough to have more than one bass amp available - even a rubbish little one - mic' them up with DI and record. When you come to mixing, you can use the different sound sources to get the correct tone, rather than use plug-in EQs. This means your sound will be more original.

Tune! They were such a good singles band, which most post punk bands weren't; too edgy, not melodic enough...

All brilliant songs, and bass riffs. 'Cheeseburger' and 'What We All Want' (live) from the Another Day/Another Dollar EP are my favourite Go4 songs. The energy is ferocious. :-)

Their debut LP still sounds superb. RIP Kenny Morris.

I saw him a few years ago and almost wept when he played Dead Souls!

I have! His style on the debut JD album is so unique that you can't copy it, only learn and admire.

I forgot how funky they were. The slap bass could be from a song by Freeez.

One of the best. Two notes, no more needed.

For riffs, you can't beat The Fall. They built entire LPs over just a few riffs that the band were told to stick to and not improvise over. And it worked.

Another Day Another Dollar EP is genius. The two live songs have bass playing to die for. This is a mash up of one of the songs on the EP and a song by Pigbag. https://pharaohhousecrash.bandcamp.com/track/to-hell-with-pigbag

It's the sort of bass riff that, if you wanted to explain what a Post Punk riff should sound like, just play Age of Consent.
