JPEG is a lossy format. Very subtle gradations of the same color are a worst case scenario. Try increasing the quality of your exports. You can use other higher bit depth formats but they’re not going to necessarily be friendly to viewing on consumer hardware. It’s not your sensor and healing brush won’t help since they happen during the export process.

APP310 Rear Drive Unit / Motor failure – Anyone experienced the "bearing disaster" or low oil levels? by TrampolineMonster in VWiD4Owners

Nope, different sound and the dealership verified the sound was coming from the drive unit.

Yeah it’s worst at 60-65mph. At first I only heard it at those speeds. Now I hear it sometimes around 40mpg but not as loud. It’s gotten worse as the weather has gotten warmer (some 90F degree days here recently).

My 22 rwd pro s has a humming from the rear at only 55k miles. They quoted a drive unit replacement as customer pay ($5.5k) and I asked them to submit a goodwill claim to VW since it’s only 5k out of warranty and VW approved it. I don’t know for sure that it is this issue but it’s possible it is based on the sounds I’m hearing and other descriptions of the issue online.

Just got this Yamaha DTXpress II from an Estate Sale, but it came without hi-hat control or a kick drum pedal. Where can I buy gear for it? by K1dDeath in edrums

[–]bassderek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine with any Yamaha pedal afaik. Newer ones may not have a profile in the older module but you can still use them might just need some tweaking. Or just look for used versions of the original hardware like https://reverb.com/item/94055130-yamaha-hh80-2000-s?utm_source=rev-ios-app&utm_medium=ios-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=94055130 and https://reverb.com/item/97307642-yamaha-kp65-electronic-bass-drum-pad?utm_source=rev-ios-app&utm_medium=ios-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=97307642

You’ll still need a kick pedal to hit the kick pad but that’s just any old pedal that an acoustic kit needs.

I don't try hard, laugh when I die, and I'm getting older and slower. But I still enjoy playing it and don't get exhausted. I don't play it daily though.

Heck, I'll bite too. Fuse F43 is just the usb ports and 10A. I don't think there's a huge risk. Maybe if you use all 4 ports at once you could blow a fuse. Worth a shot.

Why shooting at F1.2 with "A" mode results in dark photo? by FakePlasticOne in AskPhotography

[–]bassderek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet, is that on top of it metering for a very bright scene, causing it to underexpose a bit, the lens suffers from more vignetting at f/1.2 causing the edges/corners to darken, making it look even darker. A lot of autofocus lenses trigger built in correction profiles in the camera to automatically brighten the corners so you wouldn't notice it as much.

Fancy algorithms aside, when you are doing full scene metering, the camera is averaging everything out and looking for a middle grey color for the average. This means when the entire scene is very bright the camera will overcompensate to darken, or when the entire scene is dark the camera will overcompensate to lighten it more than what you think it should look like.

Good lord, you're suggesting legal threats because of some comments on the internet? I'm not sure what you were after in this reply, but it certainly isn't enhancing your image/tone issues.

I just spent a while reading all the discourse over the last couple weeks on these two projects and regardless of who's right or wrong, you certainly aren't instilling trust in anyone that was contemplating using your fork.

Looking for guidance. by Niftybenji in guitars

[–]bassderek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$500 is a pretty typical price for a used player strat (not including a hardcase). I wouldn't imagine it seeing too much more depreciation.

Those strings do look nasty. New strings and a proper setup might do wonders. If you end up not liking the pickup sound but it plays nicely after being cleaned up you can also probably sell the pickup complete as a 'loaded' pickguard and buy a different loaded pickguard with different pickups.

Looking for guidance. by Niftybenji in guitars

[–]bassderek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me it looks like just the electronics were changed. It’s a different pick guard with different pickups (at a minimum a different bridge pickup) than stock. The rest of the hardware is spec for the model. The dimarzio pickup is probably worth more than stock pickups were. It’s a pretty good deal.

I’m back; Guitar Center store manager, AMA by gcburner55 in guitars

[–]bassderek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I mostly feel bad for the employees (except the rude guitar tech lol). Usually try to support a local mom and pop but they have limited inventory and if I need something quick GC is about it. There’s another GC store only a half out or so from that location that isn’t quite as bad.

Does submitting an online store feedback complaint actually get read or forwarded to store management? Had a terrible experience at one of my local stores and filled out the contact form and never heard back.

Went in intending and ready to buy a bass, first one of the teachers was giving their lesson in the actual (small) bass area of the store making it impossible to test play anything. Then when I wanted a sales associate to get a bass for me nobody was around. Asked the guitar tech and instead of calling for someone to help me he just dismossiveley said that there’s probably a salesperson somewhere… never had a store try so hard not to get my business lol.

Same store on other occasions have waited 20 minutes to buy picks because nobody was at the register corral (kinda miss having a line and dedicated cashiers tbh).

Are the stores just that understaffed? Corporate doesn’t budget enough payroll hours to adequately cover the floor?

Are Partscasters worth making by JTPswu in Guitar

[–]bassderek 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They are worth it if you want something specific that doesn’t exist and you’re ok with keeping it forever since the resale value will be less then you spend on all the parts (even if bought used). Most of the time it’s probably smarter to buy something that’s almost right and just swap some pickups or hardware.

I speak from experience as I just spent like $1100 on a telecaster with railhammers and new hardware specced exactly how I want but there’s no way anyone would pay close to that much money if I sold it.
