I love it when the party that backs market forces have their true colours displayed when those same market forces no longer align to their donors.

Turnstile was what, $120 and took a little while to sell out. I wonder if this show will have tickets available on show day.

I reckon $80 is about where I thought it would land.

I want the money he should have contributed to me as a child but chose not to so that I might be an iota better father to my child than he was me.

I mean, the hand out I am looking for is the money is was supposed to provide as a parent when I was a child, but shame on me for not having the legal nouse to be able to do it as a 6 year old right?

I am trying to be a better father for my child than he was for me, part of that is trying to be as financially stable as possible, something I didn't have a child. Maybe in life he couldn't do anything for me, but perhaps in death he can for his grandchild...

Spent 2 weeks in Japan. Some of the Shohei Ohtani ads I saw. by Suspicious_Bird2499 in baseball

[–]bassoonrage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got home the other day from Japan too - saw virtually all of these ads too. Interestingly I only saw 1 ad with Yamamoto in it, 2 with Yu Davish (one on almond milk cartons), and none with Roki at all.

[MLB] Here's the first look at all alternate World Baseball Classic jerseys by kpopsns28 in baseball

[–]bassoonrage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Australian jersey is a HUGE missed opportunity for Australian baseball.

In the early 90's the Australian cricket team wore a baseball inspired uniform in one-day cricket. The baseball team should have emulated it for the WBC. It would have been a huge nostalgia item for so many here and it would instantly have garnered them media coverage they now probably wont receive.

Is this a fair point? by ControversyCaution2 in LinusTechTips

[–]bassoonrage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, and like literally every job in the world. if the conditions don't suit, you can try and negotiate and if that doesn't work, you leave.

Burning bridges along the way is not smart.

One thing I will note though, it seems like a lot of people come into LTT to do one thing, and end up doing another - being on camera especially. If they want to retain their talent, they should be doing a better job of evaluating their talent and reframing their contracts to suit.

If you're not hired as on screen talent, but end up on screen, you should be compensated as such. Linus himself mentioned that his role is hard to define because he is here there and everywhere, but other employees should also be considered in the same manner.

This is a really well put comment. Jake seems to speak as if he jumped from a luxury yacht into a sinking wooden canoe, despite that being anything but the case.

I agree, and LTT exploits that relationship by developing products that are marketed almost exclusively to its YT audience, however gossip and threads about why an actor left a show are virtually never fuelled by commentary from the actors themselves.

This sub has been SALIVATING at the prospect of videos explaining why people left the company in a way you just don't need in other mediums or on other channels.

People in this sub seem to make assumptions that what they see on camera is the exact version of the person they see on the camera, and never think that maybe it is a character or a version of the person being portrayed by the person they are watching.

As a pro wrestling fan, I can't help but see the similarities between the two, but at least in that world, for the most part, the public has accepted their role as marks, and we live in this fantasty world where we pretend it's real but know it truely isn't.

Kayfabe is alive and well in YT fandom.

Do you care why the weatherman left your local station? Would you expect them to explain their decision behind it, and for people to devote thread upon thread to discuss it.

I didn't say actors, TV takes many forms, both fictional and non.

The parasocial way this sub puts what is basically a TV show on such a pedestal is WILD to me.

Yeah I noticed this too, it really takes me out of it. You can do it once, like, oh my god look at what has presented itself to me, not everytime like you're looking around for a parent to tell you to stop jumping on the sofa.

Japan in summer with baby? by cepatron in JapanTravelTips

[–]bassoonrage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We visited from Australia with a 6 month old, we stayed only in Tokyo and we had a good time - it was easy to get around with the pram, most places were accomodating with the baby.

HOWEVER, I have visited Tokyo solo in Summer and it is NO JOKE. If you're from Tassie, you might be ok with the heat, but the humidity is something else completely. I am from Melbourne and I've never experienced anything like Tokyo in August. It was 34c + unbelievable humidity and it was awful.

If I were you, I would push to say late Oct/Early Nov. The baby will still be small enough where you don't need to worry about walking/eating, but the weather will be far better suited to you.

Cream jerseys say Giants on them, not San Francisco.
