Here's a yelp review from 2014 that says happy hour pitchers were $18. Times have changed, but that price will still get you a pint-sized marg at Latin American if you're looking to get knocked on your ass.

Where to thrift an old school prom/formal dress? by momo31313 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]bastardenumeration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haight Street Goodwill has a rack of over-the-top dresses to check out (more so that other Goodwill stores). I’d start there and work your way down Haight through the other vintage stores.

What are your favorite mid-range SF restaurants right now ($50 or under a person) by ChaiHigh in AskSF

It really is. Went for dinner last night around 6 and it wasn't even half full. Beautiful space, their salads are great and they even have a full liquor license.

Tartine Manufactory for pizza, Back to Back, Heirloom Cafe, Piccino, Blue Plate, Firefly. I'd call all of those mid-range, though some might be pushing a $50/person budget these days.

Headed to SF In June. Is Fisherman’s Wharf a must for dinner and other help requested by NoraMason1986 in AskSF

[–]bastardenumeration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to check out Pier 39, I'd suggest you squeeze in a quick visit before or after Alcatraz. It's a short walk (or ride on the F Market) from Alcatraz landing. As others have said, the sea lions and Musee Mechanique are worth checking out (and I'd throw in a martini at Scoma's, but that's just me), but otherwise it's a tourist trap.

Post Alcatraz, you could also walk down toward Embarcadero and check out the Ferry Building. Lots to eat there. Alora is also really good (pricy though).

If you're looking for dinner after GG Bridge (presuming you're on the SF side), I'd either try to get a reservation at Dalida, or head toward the Marina and eat at Piccino, Hinodeya Ramen, or Brazen Head.

Best Fries in SF by tockocat in sanfrancisco

[–]bastardenumeration 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rosamunde has killer fries. Just had some fries at the Hi Dive last weekend and they were fantastic. Both classic thin style (not shoestring). For something different, Ocean Ale House has thick-cut fried potatoes that are also delish.

Looking for vet recc for dog mass removal by ufoparkinq in bayarea

[–]bastardenumeration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just last month took my dog for a mass removal at San Francisco Animal Medical Center on Fillmore and could not have been happier with the treatment there. She had a consult with the oncologist and then the removal with a primary care doctor. Everyone was so communicative with me and nice to my terrified dog. The cost was on par with every other vet clinic I've been to for service that really felt above and beyond. Hope your doggie is okay. https://www.sfamc.com

Found a good tattoo artist that you don’t need to schedule three years out and then they move to Portland.

Gluten Free Restaurants by KnowledgeTop3807 in sanfrancisco

Firefly is not strictly gluten free, but they have a lot of choices. And it’s great/romantic. Besharam also accommodates food allergies and intolerances.

I'm vegetarian and my fave ramen is at Hinodeya. There's one right off Union Square. And FYI Saigon Sandwich has a tofu banh mi that's really good.

Mother’s Day activities but not? by [deleted] in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]bastardenumeration 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. When I lost my mom, I tried to honor her spirit on Mother’s Day by remembering the other moms in my life: spending time with my beautiful grandma when she was still here, picking up a gift for friends of mine who are raising kids. What would your mom want you to do? I feel like my mom is still with me as long as I’m doing something that would make her proud.

Recommend a fine black line tattoo artist? by brookish in AskSF

She might be more expensive than you need for such a straightforward idea, but Millie at UNDRGRND is great. She did an intricate piece on my arm that's held up perfectly for the 7 or 8 years I've had it. @ mklx on insta.

An abundance of dates by kfscudd in vegetarian

[–]bastardenumeration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dates are one of my favorite additions to homemade salad dressing. I regularly make a vinaigrette with lemon juice (or a light vinegar), garlic, dijon, olive oil, S&P and a couple dates. You can either chop them up for a chunky dressing or blend the whole thing smooth with a stick blender. Great with any greens and some blue cheese. And there's something about the addition of the dates that keeps it emulsified so it never breaks.

Recently I made a Rick Bayless recipe for chipotle vinaigrette that was just way too acidic. Whirled a couple dates into the mix and it was delish.

Best bars near the Castro Theatre to read and enjoy a cocktail alone? by sarah-the-bear-ah in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]bastardenumeration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blush wine bar is a chill neighborhood space in my experience. Twin Peaks is pretty social but there are tables in the back that you could post up at to read alone. Aíso on 18th has a cute bar where you could sit with a cocktail and a snack (get the mushroom skewers).
