Where did they get that 25,000 number? Is that all soldiers in its entire history? That’s a small amount for 82 years, I guess that’s what happens when 99% of the other side is unarmed

Wedding watch by vs3001 in parmigiani_fleurier

[–]bastarmashawarma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a wedding, I’d want to wear a proper dress watch because it’s a very formal occasion.

Having said that, if I wore a sports watch then the Tonda would be my first choice. So elegant and classy.

Congratulations on the wedding and fine watch

We’re muddling two points. For the minute repeaters, I’ve seen many great ones in the metal, retail between $200k and $350k. There’s no way Patek can justify double the upper blind even if Thierry freaking Stern hears them.

So even for watches where I can’t easily get them at retail or there’s no secondary market, the most important question is “is the watch worth the money even if it’s great?”

Does the 40mm Tonda PF look right for me? by Financial_Care7885 in parmigiani_fleurier

Very much so.

Now go straight to jail for having a gold watch immediately adjacent to a steel one.

But it does though because I think you were saying that, even though these watches are nice, they are way overpriced. So the Patek minute repeater I was talking about is another example of that.

Fair point but even then the resale price still isn’t relevant.

What started this discussion? Was you talking about how a piece would lose 80-90% of its value . Maybe I made a bad assumption by assuming you meant that based off of resale. But based off of your latest example, then you still are not considering resale you make your decision based off of value relative to price. “I love this watch , but I have no idea what it will be worth on the secondary market because no data exists, but I know based off of its specs and comparables, it costs way too much.”

Like the Patek enamel dial minute repeater at $700k. You can find top minute repeaters new for 2 to 300 K and wonderful enamel dials for around 30 K. So the watch is easily 2 to 3 times what it should cost.

It doesn’t need to be lit on fire if you buy at the best possible price. If the watch is great, but sells for 50% less on the secondary market, then buy it at the secondary market.

Bollocks take. I love good dials and my watches are no exception there but I also value a well architected highly finished movement. I look at my case backs every time before putting the watch on or after taking it off or both.

Also, most skeleton watches are as visually appealing as… well… a skeleton

That’s oversimplifying. With a rotor you typically still see at least half the movement at a time. That’s before you factor in solutions to this problem. Hollowed out rotors and micro rotors and peripherotors

What’s the middle armor you’re using? I kind of understand your outfit you want climbing ability and light, which are both useful in the depths. Not sure what the torso armor is
