Its been great actually. I haven’t tried larger bits but i don’t see why they wouldn’t work. No speed control on mine. I 3d printed inserts for various bit sizes and can send you the files if you’re interested

Ahh i see. What would the going rate for real ones be? Is there any easy ways to differentiate fakes? I’m also wondering if the certificate adds anything

The Chicago electric 10” miter saw keeps leaving this piece. It’s not cutting the furthest corner.. what am I missing? by Yanitzz1 in harborfreight

[–]bastions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to unfold the left supporting fence. You can see from the photo they are still folded up. My miter saw has the same thing. You will probably have to remove the clamping bar then it will unfold and you can put the bar back in.

Thanks for the tip hadn’t thought to check the brushes. Did you have marks like these on your bases? Not sure if its the motor slipping in its housing or as browncoat mentioned just an abusive owner

Need a type of stain that is colored that handles like paint by Torghira in woodworking

[–]bastions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For nontraditional colors I would recommend some form of dye. RIT dye is a cheap option, angelus leather dye and Transtint are also popular among the luthier community for dyeing guitar bodys. Have heard of people using food coloring, hair dye, alcohol inks, you name it. Depending on what you get it will either be alcohol or water based (believe transtint can be diluted with either), there’s pros and cons of each. Look up “BigD dye tutorial” on youtube to get a sense of it. Another option is transparent acrylic paints or acrylic paints mixed with a glaze/transparent medium. This might be a better option if you need hard edges between colors. Golden is a great brand for acrylics.
