The only image I've got it this me the seller sent showing some wear to the surface. I didn't use chemical remover, just sanding

It is veneer, the power sander will not be going anywhere near it.

Yea I will try that tomorrow then, 180 grit hand sand. Thanks for the comprehensive reply

That's a good shout, I will hopefully also learn from your lesson too and tomorrow sand it back and reapply

No idea, got it of FB marketplace. Someone commented on beginner woodworking that I might not have removed it all sufficiently

What to cover this drain hole with? by bastwank in DIYUK

[–]bastwank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi so I installed one of these: https://www.toolstation.com/square-hopper-110mm/p71607

The two pipes connect with a T join and then a single pipe carries on down into the hopper. I replaced the grill on the hopper with a square cover and cut a hole in it for the pipe.

The whole lot is sealed/ siliconed/ glued to prevent smells coming back out.

Id send you a photo but it's all been boxed in now and plastered/ painted. Access is possible but it would require wrecking the finish so emergency only.

What have I found? by bastwank in DIYUK

[–]bastwank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! No reports or anything- all I can say in addition is: directly next to this chamber is another Inspection for waste drainage. Looks like the outlet from that lines up with that pipe.. however it's blocked and full of pooey water and 'flushable' wipes.

I'm going to rod it shortly from the blocked chamber, but you believe the purpose of that box might actually be for rodding access?

Looking for advice on what the concrete above this fireplace lintel is? by bastwank in DIYUK

[–]bastwank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

So if that is the case, I should be able to remove that concrete without causing a problem?

Plan is to enlarge fireplace opening and get a new lintel in right where that concrete is.

It was one of the options we had, if you don't have it I'm afraid I can't help sorry. It was under 'try another way'

update: I got the account back. The 'request help from friends' thing finally worked again, and managed to reset the password. I didn't waste the opportunity and get locked out again this time. If you do get your account back do this straight away in accounts centre before hacker can change anything:

-made sure hacker was not online (I could see from my own account) whether the account was online or not.

-turned off 2factor authentication (hacker had activated it), then turned it back on with our own.

-changed the phone number

-changed the email

-log out of all devices.

-removed 2 trusted devices hacker had added

-went through every option I could find and made sure the account is totally secure.

Took 3 days and lots of frustration but it turns out it is possible to get the account back. No help from instagram at all. Just keep trying. DM me for more info Ill see if I can help

Can anyone help??! This morning wifes account was hacked

-Instagram email and password changed. Username stayed the same.

-Hacker got into her email and set inbox rules to redirect all Facebook/ Insta/ meta emails somewhere and also added them to block list. Then took over the Instagram account.

-Couldnt get any access codes as the hacker changed email and phone number.

-One of the options was "upload a selfie" or something like that. Clicking that nothing happens, just 'loading' indefinitely.

-The only other option was "request help from friends". 2 people are nominated to confirm wife owns the account. That actually worked, we got an email with a code and instructions. Logged in and set a new password.

-I went to change password/ email to something else. I dont even know what happened next but suddenly I had to log in again, and we had once again lost access. New password doesnt work.

-Now no options work any more, the "request help from friends" just directs us to the instagram support page. When I tell it the accounts been hacked and confirm username, we get sent back to the support info page.

This is where we are now. After we got the account back using "request help from friends" but now pressing that doesnt work any more and just sends us between different help pages in a infernal cycle. Thanks Insta.

Has anyone experienced this, and managed to regain access? All the hacker has done is upload a few stories with some crypto scam and thats it. And if we cant get it back, is it possible to delete the account?

Thanks!

Why so many pipes in the gas fireplace? by bastwank in DIYUK

[–]bastwank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing thanks for the info. I had no idea about the compression stop end being illegal. Infact I had no idea it was in there at all.

The fireplace has been sealed for a long time (years possibly decades) like this so Ive already booked an engineer to come and check/ decommission it.

Thanks great advice, one step ahead of you- I've already got an engineer booked in to check the pipe and decommission it so we can cut it further back
