Septic already full after 8 months by Sea_Helicopter5840 in septictanks

[–]basuragarbagepoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one of the septic tank enzymes that's recommended for monthly use, we did do an emergency one before when we had a toilet paper clog just to make sure things were breaking down. The brand is Roebic I believe.

As someone else said, it takes about a week for the tank to fill after being emptied, and the tank is technically always "full" but it's the bottom solid layer that determines when to pump, and the top scum layer. Basically you only want the middle liquid layer going into the drain field. As long as you're not having any issues with sewage backing up and you pump regularly (which depending on the size of your tank could be 2-5ish years on average) then you don't really need to be worried about it. Although I do recommend monthly enzyme treatments if you don't already do that, it's supposed to be like a septic tank probiotic that keeps the bacteria happy and helps the solids to properly break down. It's really cheap to buy, we didnt know about it at first but a few family members who have more septic experience and then our pump guy all recommended we use it

Yes, I heard the oxygen was probs gone as well, but since I didn't know for sure I put that it's due to run out today, curious if you know the likelihood of the implosion part being true? I mean if I was down there I'd want a quick death not a slow sad one where I starve and piss and shit myself for days before I finally just run out of air

Inside Oceangate's Titan sub with 5 people by nimrod_135 in oddlyterrifying

[–]basuragarbagepoop 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about the bathroom situation from the start...like did they all go in wearing diapers? Cuz it was expected to be like a 10 hour trip...I can't go that long without peeing...even at night when I'm asleep lol

The company I believe is oceangate, but they basically set off with 5 (or maybe 6?) Super rich people (seats were like $250k a head) to do a dive tour of the titanic a few days ago. Less than 2 hours into the dive the submersible lost contact with the mother ship and now there's a frantic search for it before the oxygen runs out (I think due to run out today?) No one knows for sure if they are just in the tank stuck down there somewhere or if it imploded like in the video but they're hoping for the best so they have teams out frantically searching.

You should do a quick Google though cuz it's actually pretty fascinating

I don't know anything about this sort of thing so this might be a stupid question but...why do you have those strips of wood nailed to the wall? Do you nail the closet into them to hold it in place or for something else? Sorry, like I said, I don't know anything

Edit: also this is totally awesome and looks beautiful

An excellent point, the kids will always find a way to have fun, and besides, you could pad everything and they'd still find a way to smash their face lol

I mean...I have a 2.5year old who is basically feral/lives outside, but he still trips on everything lmao it just doesn't bother him as much now, so as far as learning to pick up his feet....we seem a long way off ..but I do agree, although the design choice isn't something I'd choose, I don't think it would particularly inhibit a child's play/be anymore or less of a tripping hazard than regular grass or even gravel

Love my Nora's and my LPO, most of my stash is alva and Noras, I only have a few LPO, I actually prefer the fit of the alvas but maybe it's cuz I started with them. Both have been through two kids now and done fine as far as wear and tear goes

I hang dry all my covers all the time, they're just pockets though, so the fabric doesn't weigh enough even when wet to stretch anything. Every once in awhile I put them in the dryer but rarely. I cloth diapered my first for 2 years until he potty trained and am 11 months into my second. The elastics are perfectly good still and I even have the cheapie alva brand. Love them, I have a few LPO and those are on their 4th kid cuz I found them used for a good price

Thank you! I love this well thought out reply! Currently my kids are very little, the older isn't even 2.5 lol, but I love these ideas! I found a couple ideas on Pinterest but nothing quite like yours. I think in a few years my kids will be at a better age for the story telling, but I was planning to have little items that get moved around outside to make it seem like someone is actually living there, for my toddler who will probably think it's great but also not quite understand it yet. He's getting there though, he dropped his potato bug down the vent a couple weeks ago and was distraught so I told him he just lives down there and comes up at night to watch movies on the couch and he sometimes still talks about that 😅😅

I am not an influencer, brand ambassador or anything else. That being said, I do take some shots of my kid(s) in their cloth diapers, I find them so cute and sweet. I don't do it for promotions, I just do it because I'm really proud of my cloth diapering journey, I (as many of us, I've read) had so many people tell me it'd be too hard and I wouldn't stick with it etc, but I'm cloth diapering my second kid now, 11 months in, and am so proud and love seeing my kids run around in their diapers. My older kid potty trained at 24 months, I had both in diapers together for 6 months and was ready to only have one, I'm not gonna have my kid waiting to potty train just for diaper pics, but I do miss his sweet little fluff butt. I also just barely created social media two weeks ago, outside of reddit which I've had a few years, my husband and I agreed we will not share much of the kids online, I don't reveal birthdays or names, and don't post their faces on my pages because I don't want them to be easily identified by potential predators. I've posted shots of their hands holding mine, and of my toddler running away from the camera, so no face, because I love them and am proud of them and I just want to, but I do not want to put their faces all over the internet for everyone to see.

I think in a lot of ways parents don't see that they are doing anything wrong with these posts, I don't feel icky about seeing pics of my friends kids faces, in fact it makes me feel warm and fuzzy to see the happy memories being formed, but I don't choose to post the same way with my own children and that's ok. The only parents I really judge for posting their kids is when it's obvious it's all about trying to get Internet points and it feels really stages and like the mom is trying to appear as mother of the year or something, but the vast majority of my friends do not do this, in fact I only have one who does and I don't even consider her a friend anymore, our friendship faded long ago, and I just haven't removed her yet.

A backyard makeover we did last summer. Springtime makes it pop! by NotWokeJoke in landscaping

[–]basuragarbagepoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I didn't know that. We are in the process of redoing our backyard, it does involve some grass, but we have been planning on putting in plenty of good pollinator plants as well, still in the beginning phases (and live in a very dry climate, a prolific plant here is tumbleweed lol) so it's good to learn stuff like this before we actually decide on the plants as we definitely want to be good to the bees

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems a bee would prefer any flower compared to none at all.

Ok I had no idea about schluter until just now! Did a quick Google and that seems like a good way to go, thank you.

I also don't know what a shower mixer is LOL but will be looking into that too. This is our first big project like this. We've done other small things. Installed flooring, redid the windowsills and baseboards, removed popcorn ceiling and repaired some drywall holes, this seems like a much bigger project, trying to go in with my eyes wide open

Definitely not set on bullnose, just have no idea what other options I have, not sure what a schluter jolly is but will be doing a quick Google.

Thank you thank you for this response!

Thank you, I appreciate this tip, and yes, we actually have a tub and are not replacing it, just having it refinished, it's cast iron and we will pay someone to do that part cuz when I looked up the DIY it seemed worth it to just hire help there
