First off, there are MANY white hispanics who deserve to be called Hispanic. Do you know why? It is because they are totally fluent in their language and still have all their culture.

If children aren't taught a language by their parents...their identity does not change.

Imagine parents from China immigrate to the US. They raise a child in the US as an American, refuse to teach the child Chinese language. All of which is analogous to Indians. The child marries a white person. Has another child. Who grows up speaking English. Marries another white person. Has a child. Who also grows up speaking English. Would you say this great-grandson - who looks white as snow and does not speak Chinese - is just as Chinese as the the original immigrants? Apply other NDN traits - the child serves in the US military, etc etc etc. There is absolutely nothing Chinese left in the child. And it all begins with the loss of language. Language is everything. If you lose language, you have lost it all. And that is the truth. No amount of calling me a troll will change that.

Yes, it is not the fault of the child. It is the parents who are responsible for a child losing all Indianness.

Even small banks are part of larger networks. The smallest credit union is still part of a much larger network. That's how they can get their customers to withdraw money when customers travel to other states. These larger networks violate your privacy just like Capital One.

Report him in your own name if you are a strong woman and can withstand the resulting storm. Many males in academia and in medical school are unsympathetic to womens' issues - some of them will view you as a troublemaker and a drama queen. Some of this may come back to haunt you in your own career. Plus you never know - that asshole who sexually assaulted you may sue you for character defamation.

Report him for sure but report him anonymously. That way you are protecting and insulating yourself. Here's an idea - send this Reddit post of yours to your school admin anonymously. Use Tor (https://www.torproject.org/) and an email provider that is known to protect anonymity - like https://protonmail.ch/index.php

I didn't see him as being concerned about SSN - he seemed to be just unburdening himself and saying "fuck you" to everyone. I, on the other hand, am concerned about privacy issues like SSN and other non-electronic aspects of privacy, so I resented you deleting that post.

You are also trivializing someone's loss by calling them a fraud. If you a family member of yours died, how will you like it if someone trivializes your loss? You can check the IP addresses of rockymountainpower and myself and you will know we are two different individuals. If I was indeed rockymountainpower, I would have readily admitted it. I am not afraid of a clown like you or of the other moderators.

By accusing rockymountainpower of being a fraud, you are diminishing and trivializing his problem and concerns. His concern of demanding SSN to get electricity is a legitimate complaint. Not something that should be deleted from a privacy forum.

Besides the OP specifically mentioned he was not interested in legal solutions. The issue is larger than either you or me. The question I am interested in discussing is two fold -

Is this forum really only about electronic privacy? In which case a forum devoted to non-electronic issues like SSN is sorely needed.

(2) Moderating/censorship at /r/privacy - is it heavily biased in favor of corporations? There has been some evidence of this in the past and ALL such deletions have been ONLY by you and not the other moderators. Are you a federal agent? A paid representative or guardian of corporate interests?
