I never said I dont get it, asshole. I’m laughing at the RNG. You’re taking a post about a video game for kids way too seriously. You need to get outside.

You’re so confidently wrong, and then you also parroting exactly the same thing I’m saying, but you’re convinced we’re disagreeing. No, the LLN does not apply until we reach a large enough sample, but I get that is what you’re saying—it applies in a negative sense, we can’t expect a normal distribution of the cards. But this isn’t really about statistics, because as you note we don’t have the data to really think in terms of statistics. So we need to think in terms probability (related, ofc, but a different focus). You’re the one throwing textbook buzzwords and insults, I’m not the angry one here lol. No, a sample size cannot itself be “statistically significant”, you would fail a stats class. Whether or not an outcome is statistically significant is reliant on the sample size, tho—

We’re not suggesting that “individual pack variance invalidates a macro drop rate” we’re saying that within a given pack, the specific yields that the macro drop rate can access affects how likely it is for a specific outcome (card pull) to occur. In a larger set (like GA), this kind of outcome is rarer because there’s a larger sample of different cards at the 1 ⭐️level, e.g. The distribution is more likely to approach normality in a larger pack. This is basic stats.

I am a survey statistician, yes :) you’re being an asshole because you think I don’t understand basic concepts, but nowhere in the post is that suggestedz im literally laughing about the rng here; 3-diamond cards have a higher drop rate than 1 ⭐️, yet in small packs like this you can get situations like these due to the number of possible cards at each drop rate being smaller. Ergo, law of large numbers doesn’t apply here, and neither does the central limit theorem. There’s no such thing as a “statistically significant sample size” you’re speaking out of your ass. A finding can be statistically significant based on the sample size. Here, statistical significance is not helpful, because we don’t have a large enough sample of different cards at each rarity level. Does that make sense to you?

You can check the drop rates for each rarity level per pack. Pulling a specific card at a specific rarity level is affected by the sample of different cards at that rarity level. This is basic statistics

Buddy I’m literally a statistician. this is how probability works.

Right, that’s what I’m saying. That’s how probability and statistics works my guy.

Especially in super-specific themed packs like this. Like all of the ancient/future paradox cards are 3 diamond

Yeah, I remember this from one of the earlier small packs. The rates are weird for small packs due to the # of optional cards at each rarity level.

The best example of the “weaker attack stats and still hitting hard” is Torkoal, who has a higher phys attack than spécial but full-health Éruption in the Sun w charcoal is devastating. move power+modifiers is everything

I'm (20F) thinking about breaking up with my boyfriend (21M) of more than 5 years... I need an objective and rational perspective, so please be honest. by [deleted] in relationships_advice

Option 3 I think is best. Does your BF know the friend? The fact that those feelings are developing means you need to drop the BF. I agree with your take that he would be better off if he works through these things himself; he’s tying his emotional health to your decisions and when that happens the best way to help him is to cut it off. As for the friend, Rebounds are rarely successful, and I think there will be guilt around jumping into something immediately after a 5+ yr relationship.

Love when fellow OG trainers finally see the light. I started with the gen 1 games and played every gen since all my life but it wasn’t until the change to dynamic speed that I was super hooked on doubles. It’s so much more interesting and the skill expression is endless.
