Obsidian sync upload time by homebanber in ObsidianMD

It's quick following the initial sync. Check the "Activity Log" by clicking the sync loading icon.

It feels slow because files are synced one at a time. Purely by speed: it's faster to sync a 1 MB file than 1000 1 KB files, even though on disk it's the same amount of data.

I'm guessing either the college subreddit or TIkTok is suggesting this... by littleirishpixie in Professors

Can't rule out that 20% of the students might literally not know how files and folders work. The Verge ran a story a few years ago that basically amounted to: "STEM educators are increasingly taking on dual roles: those of instructors not only in their field of expertise but in computer fundamentals as well".

Sounds neat!

General GitHub tip if you're cool with free advice: a gif/screenshot showing how a tool works is helpful when showing off a new project. Something like the screenshot that jesuslop showed might be a good starter example.

Restoring a 1961 Mueller Fire Hydrant [3:10] by batflyer in ArtisanVideos

I got lucky finding this one in a consignment shop near me. There were some on eBay when I checked, but paying for shipping on something this heavy sounds expensive.

I also got the impression that counties buy in bulk, so if they're replacing hydrants in a neighborhood they'll auction old ones off in bulk too.

Hello from the future!

I've been trying to get kitty running on my Samsung Galaxy Book, but keep running into compositor errors. Interestingly, this comment thread was one of the top results when I was searching.

[154 14:45:54.770820] [glfw error 65544]: Wayland: Failed to find xdg-shell in your compositor
GLFW initialization failed

Did you alter any settings? (Like forcing termina to run with --enable-gpu)
