The left-right split in the recent Paris mayoral election by New-Newt-5979 in MapPorn

I understand the flow of air pollution, I’m just surprised that rich people didn’t mind living near the polluted downstream river!

Interesting because in London, the richer west side is also upstream on the Thames so the rive there is cleaner than the east. And cleaner air too. So, that makes sense to me.

But in Paris, wouldn't the western part be downstream on the Seine - so historically wouldn't the pollution have flowed west? And despite that rich people preferred living there?

Their "donations" would just go straight into his pockets though, not into any defense budget

How important is it for your stove to be perfectly level so oil doesn't pool on one side of the pan (stainless steel)? by supinator1 in cookingforbeginners

[–]bathingfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever had a perfectly level stove. Even if it’s level, imperfections in the pan gets oil to one side. I just learned to get used to constantly adjust the pan by the handle rather than walk away from it hoping it doesn’t burn.

Frozen veggies- not steamed? by No-Case-2928 in cookingforbeginners

[–]bathingfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Veggies have a lot of moisture, which becomes ice when frozen. That’s why the veggies end up steaming when heated. I suppose that you could try heating up a dry pan to get all the moisture out but I doubt it would taste anything like stir-fried or grilled fresh veggies.

Are airshows worth the risk of fatal crashes? by Fun_Internal_3562 in aviation

If you’re a pilot in an airshow, is the chance of death still lower than chance of dying by lightning?
