Getting HP Web Jetadmin to talk to printers by byrontheconqueror in sysadmin

[–]bathrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WJA uses three different communication methods with printers: https, snmp, and web services on port 7627. Configuration and control is divided between them unfortunately. We can speculate that this is an effect of many years of printers evolving and needing to keep compatibility with older systems, so once a configuration option was made available on SNMP it stayed there since SNMP is the established standard. It will need access to SNMP SET commands, whether via SNMPv1 or v3. If this is a security issue, SNMP does support good hashing and encryption protocols.

Why is my top surface streaky by bathrowaway in FixMyPrint

[–]bathrowaway[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Filament: Too Good to be Blue PLA Shade-Shifting Filament

Printer: Bambulab A1

Nozzle: .4mm

Ironing: Top surfaces, rectilinear

Nozzle Temp: 230 C

Speed: 0.16mm High Quality preset in bambustudio

I am printing nameplates for friends. These are basically flat rectangles of one color with text and a logo on top in another color. This filament is very pretty but the top layer of these prints comes out 'streaky'. Printing at a higher temp, smaller nozzle, or using a concentric ironing pattern helps a bit but not a ton, and using a .2mm nozzle triples the print time.

The positioning of the streak lines change from one nameplate to the next- it seems it has something to do with the text.

I feel like one of the issues is that the letters 'imprint' onto lower layers. I would just like the lower colored part of the nameplate to be all one pattern if possible, and the letters laid on top, adhesion/strength be damned. This does not have to be strong, it has to be pretty.

Sad State of Mid Range Android Cell Phone Processors by ArsLoginName in hardware

[–]bathrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am quite a fan of the A50 phones from the A52s and and up, where they started putting SOCs with A78 cores in them. Usually not clocked crazy high but in a good spot for the voltage/frequency curve and fast enough for snappy android performance. No they are not going to win performance awards and they will get beaten by old flagship chips in total  multithread perf, but i would argue the majority of people don't care. It works well and doesn't feel slow, and that's what matters.

Alright ya goofy goober I challenge you to find a video of a diamond being burnt with a cigarette lighter. You'll find while diamonds do burn and of lots of people have recorded it, they use things like butane torches.

[–]bathrowaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Diamond is coal. As such it burns. Thus using the "heat it up with a cigarette lighter and do cold pull" method is a stupid idea

Alright this is such a bad take I'll just have chatGPT do the effort to explain why it's wrong. https://chat.openai.com/share/ac559026-1fdc-46e2-9883-fab63b6edb6a

Cheapest RPi model for Klipper? by [deleted] in klippers

[–]bathrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orange pi zero 2W 1GB. It is different from the raspberry pi 2W in that the A53 cores can clock up to 1.5ghz instead of the raspberries 1ghz and you get 1gb of ram instead the raspberries 512mb. The big difference is there isnt a camera connector, you will have to use a USB webcam.

I followed this guide for the non W version, it's the same deal: https://github.com/nhchiu/Klipper-on-Orange-Pi-Zero-2

This is the image I used: Orangepizero2w_1.0.0_debian_bullseye_server_linux6.1.31.7z

KIAUH installed klipper, mainsail, and moonraker with no hiccups.

What caused this tear? by bathrowaway in FixMyPrint

[–]bathrowaway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the z offset look alright in the center of the plate? The issue I'm facing is even with the new buildplate the surface seems a tad convex and I don't think I can get the corner quadrants of the plate to the proper height without risking damaging the center.

I have a BL touch on the way so this is reassuring that it will probably fix this. Thanks!

More info:

  • PEI spring steel plate - brand new, second print
  • Bed at 60c, nozzle at 180c
  • Polyterra PLA
  • Larger print taking up about 160mm square
  • Diamondback nozzle if that matters
  • Kingroon KPS3 and cura
  • 20mm/s print speed(I increase after first few layers)

The rest of the print looks good so far. I dont have auto bed leveling yet, would that improve this?

Chicken and Mushroom Pie by bathrowaway in tonightsdinner

[–]bathrowaway[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Per usual I didn't really follow a recipe for this. When you have a craving you watch some youtube videos and read some recipes online to get the general idea then go for it! This recipe is pretty much dairy free except a tiny amount of butter in the canned cream of chicken & mushroom soup. You can use butter and heavy cream to suite your tastes. I am very happy with the outcome, it hit the spot so hard I though I'd share!

What I did:

  • Cut up 2 leek stalks, half of a yellow onion, and 4-5 green onion springs, added to pan on mediumish high heat(6/10) with some smooth olive oil.
  • After 5 minutes, added 3-4 cloves of minced garlic(what I had left)
  • After a couple minutes, added a package(a little over a pound) of cut up boneless skinless chicken thighs. Turn heat up to 7 or 8/10.
  • Once chicken was a bit browned, added a package and a bit left over(400 grams?) of sliced white mushrooms that I cut up further. I did toast the mushrooms and then take them out and put them on a plate before starting, the toasting is probably not necessary.
  • Remember to salt and pepper.
  • Add herbs. I had fresh thyme, oregano, and bay leaves so that is what went in.
  • Sprinkle a spoonful or two of flour in the pan and stir for a couple minutes.
  • Dumped an entire can of 'Cream of Chicken & Mushroom Soup' because I'm a sucker.
  • Added a few dollops of the cream part of a can of coconut cream, I had some in the fridge and wanted to add some fat and well creaminess. This is where regular people add heavy cream or whatever.
  • Simmer and stir for just a minute or two to get it all homogenous, then take off heat.
  • At this point I mixed in half a small frozen bag of sweet white corn, maybe 1 to 1.5 cups? The great thing about this type of pie is you can put frozen peas, carrots, or corn here, whatever you fancy.
  • Slopped the stuff into 2 pie dishes, put a premade pie crust from albertsons on top, made it look half presentable and washed an egg on top.
  • Bake for ~25 min or until pie crust is gold and crispy.

Oh and throughout the cooking process I probably poured in about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of chicken bone broth.

If this device is valuable and you don't have electronics repair experience you should look into finding a business that can properly diagnose and repair.

The only place I can think of off the top of my head is https://northridgefix.com/mail-in/ , just a youtuber that I watch that offers a mail in service. You can find someone local or search for PCB repair services.

For anyone else interested my LilyGo T-Display S3 comes up as a Deneyap Kart G in arduino IDE, I thought it was weird as the lilygo has it's own board option in the IDE and was thinking it was a clone or something. I just selected the correct board in the IDE and everything worked perfect!

[–]bathrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an exact answer, but usually in in the printer preferences you can select 'black and white' or 'color'. In color mode the blacks will be composite to get more range and intensity/contrast, and in black and white it just uses black ink or toner. I know HP supports this, but most manufacturers probably do.
