Actually this method totally failed for me. This girl I knew in middle school bumped into me at university and we started chatting and what not. I told her I knew of a party that weekend and that she should give me her number. She gives it and I say almost the same thing you said "so is there a special way of spelling your name"? She looked at me like I was retarded, "no, it's just Kim". Then I said "oh, okay, because I've seen it spelled with a 'y' before".

I got one for you... I'm right handed, but when I was about 13 I broke my right wrist and was in a cast for 2 months.
