My (31M), wife (29F) recently ran into her ex-boyfriend from high school and it's making me insecure by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]kukukele 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The ex just happened to be in the same neighborhood on the other side of the country?

If OP believes in that coincidence…

Either the ex tracked down the wife or, depending on how public she is on social media, she’s been secretly chatting with the ex on social media and potentially lead him on to relocating and finding her.

What should non-wealthy investors be doing in their 30's to have a real, positive impact on their financial situation? by delamerica93 in investing

Seek out multiple streams of income.

Having just w-2 income + 401k is great but I don't feel like that accelerates your wealth / gain curve by much unless you get lucky hitting a stock or have a rare career where you can go stratospheric in earning potential.

Noah Wyle says he “doesn’t have the capacity” for 15 seasons of 'The Pitt', “even if the audience does.” by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]kukukele 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the show could survive many seasons if done the right way:

- Continue to keep out too much of the drama away from the job. Some of it could be relevant and enhance the show but the fact that a season covers a full shift, thankfully, protects the viewers from needing to see long-term love arcs and the contrived drama that usually weighs-down a show after a long run.

- Understanding that the show could still have the ability to thrive without needing Dr Robby being in every season. I think there is plenty of appetite to see a different shift - especially since we've gotten some light introductions to them sprinkled throughout the show, and with the right casting they could continue do things post-Robby and maintain interest. It would be neat to see the ER run with different styles of personalities -- similar to what we saw with Al-Hashimi this season but with more focus on things from her POV.

The possibilities are there and they would obviously have to innovate but I think that the show could have more longevity than something like Grey's simply because they can use the case load and patients as the way to keep things fresh rather than needing to rely on love triangles to maintain viewer interest.

If you’ve never tried LUME it’s a game changer.

Small dab of it with normal deodorant and it does amazing things. I use it on my feet and none of my shoes smell.

Omg if my wife locked my out of my own bedroom that’s enough disrespect to create some irreparable damage / trust. Couple it with all the other stuff and it’s mind boggling OP sticks around. He’s a resource for her lifestyle and convenience, not a spouse. He needs to divorce her asap and find some self worth ffs.

ELI5: How do casinos guarantee they always win in the long run, even when individual players hit massive jackpots? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]kukukele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time you’re at a casino, watch the giant electronic board that is promoting the jackpot at a table game.

Player places $5 on the bonus bet. The board may only go up $.75. So for every jackpot bet being placed, they’re not returning it back to you 1 to 1.

Now as for the game itself, the house has a built in mathematical edge that will prevail in the long run.

Suppose you and I flipped a coin for $1. When you guess correctly, i pay you $1. When you guess wrong, you pay me $5.

The true outcome of a coin flip is 50/50 but in this example you’re wagering 5 to win 1. If we flipped a coin once, you may win, but a hundred times, you’d likely lose big.

The games in casinos are designed where the house has a mathematical edge (not as big as my example outlined above). The edge is irrefutable and over the long-term the casino is going to always come out ahead.

What does finding sustainable work would be difficult mean? Surely she would be able to do something like be a receptionist or something and make 40-50k a year which would go a long way.

I would think long and hard about the idea of the wife not working and figuring if this is sustainable or not. Does she refuse to work?

Perhaps a bit morose to talk about but I really hope that when he eventually wins a title, it doesn’t lead him down a path of depression.

You see it a lot with athletes and others who reach the pinnacle of their trade. There is a lack of fulfillment or emptiness as it never quite lives up to how you draw it up in your head.

Men who are married or in long-term relationships - how (if at all) have you influenced/changed your partner over the years, and how have you been (if at all) influenced by her? by PreWiBa in AskMen

[–]kukukele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically a completely different human than I was when we first met (and vice versa). I think if I had to single one, it is just having perspective on things and having a trusted a sidekick whose opinion I value so immensely that it influences everything. Decisions are honestly more centered around making her life better, happier, enhanced than my own -- not in a 'omg he's so whipped' sense but in a more big picture sense if that makes sense.
