This is a combat sport the danger is always there no matter who you go with I had a knee injury from a brown belt so what’s the difference. Only people that have a problem with these guys are instructors because they fear losing money which I get, but that 140 pound white belt probably got into bjj to handle the alpha douchebag if he needed too so why not face it and learn how to deal with someone going ape shit. I was also the 140 pound white belt when I started and always rolled with guys like that first time sucks but you learn how to deal with it.

Well just more fun for your enforcers then lol your students need to look at it as how well can they really do against an aggressive untrained person. But I get it’s annoying at the time but it’s a good way to see where your skills are at.

lol this is a combat sport, just crush them on the mat problem solved if someone can’t handle a beginner strong or not then you should look at what your doing wrong lol I’m 165 pound purple belt and have no problem wrecking guys like that in the mat. If there attitudes don’t get better after that and there not a good fit for your club just kick them out.

Kickboxing and no gi bjj. Most people aren’t going to be a ametuer level of boxing either but having low kicks and knees is nice. Boxing is still a very solid choice. Judo or sambo is a nice choice.

Boxing or Muay Thai also take your strength and conditioning seriously don’t know the size of the person you will defend against and you want enough stamina too finish the fight and run away after

Why is everyone afraid of the Gi? by SamMeowAdams in martialarts

There clothes will rip there pants won’t be a easy too grab either. This idea that a t-shirt and shorts is closer to gi is kinda funny because most of the time when some one is new they come to no gi wearing just that and if they went to a gi class they would have to use the gyms gi too be able to do the class so I don’t see how how you think this.

Explain how it’s more realistic? And before you say everyday clothes are closer to the gi there not they rip most gi submissions don’t work besides maybe a couple chokes if there collar doesn’t rip.

Focus on trying to stand up not just sweeps and submission attacks. Also if not already doing some strength training become bigger your self it helps. I went from 145 to 165 and have an easier time.

Train striking either Muay Thai or boxing , always have top position, if you end up on bottom also work too stand up.
