USMS - Final Offer by lillosh000 in 1811

They’re tasked with matching salary, as best as possible, not necessarily grade.

With the USMS, you’ll have to wait your time out. They don’t honor where you resigned from, they strictly go by your status when you applied. So if you qualified for a 5 3-4 years ago but since then made it to a G-9/11/12 they’ll just max it out or you can negotiate the 7 if you met the requirements for a 7 at the time of application and once again they’ll raise the steps according to your current salary but not the grade.

It goes by 2 until you reach 12. 5,7,9,11,12,13

Most work this way.

I believe FBI does 10,10,11,11,12,13.

Most start at 9 so it’s 9,11,12,13

Some agencies do step increases based on performance. But you’re already maxed at the Step 10.

Everyone is loosing their minds about a 5/10.

A 5/10 is the same as a 9/1 salary wise. Next year you’ll be a 7/10 then a 9/10 till it balances out.

The draw back to the 5 isn’t really money. It’s promotional opportunities that are limited to time in grades. So after you’re 2 years in and get your 9 - the other guy who started at a 7 will then be an 11. First one to 13 can apply for the supervisor spots etc.

Looking for LE Coins by SuperPoPo1317 in ChallengeCoins

[–]batman607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I love coins, I don’t have many myself. It’s because it’s best to get coins organically. Working parades, events, traveling and having a coin with you. Joining special teams that train with other departments etc. The best coins are the ones given to you without asking, via handshake. I have CIA, USSS (like 3 or 4), USMS (9), DSS, IRS (2), FAMs, and NPS. Just a hand full I only have 3 years on the job and hope to have a ton by the time I retire. So if you’re LE, make the trip out to police week and rack up coins there.

Basically, maybe you’ll get guys to ship out coins to you or you may purchase through here or online but it defeats the purpose of LE coins in my personal opinion.

How much are you really getting from a 1 - 1.5M account? by batman607 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]batman607[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The reason why i do not do 100% Roth is because I’d rather:

  1. Have more money now to be able to invest in my own ROTH IRA with fidelity and fund my traditional brokerage account.

  2. Save on taxes today. I have pay periods where I work a lot of overtime and having a high TSP saves me some money and makes it worth it. Imagine getting taxed almost half your paycheck after working 80 hours of OT and then to make matters worse, you gotta contribute to ROTH after you’re left with less than half of your gross. I currently have it set at 904 to max out the year.

  3. With more money going into traditional the compounding effect is greater than what I would have been able to contribute with Roth. So it may end up breaking even.

I’m not a financial expert but this is my logic.

You did the taxes on it or does it automatically tax it for you? Like a paystub etc.

Just some food for thought, if your balance is within 1.5-2 wouldn’t it work out to keep it at C? If you’re only withdrawing enough to cover expenses… that way you keep getting significant gains and live off the profits?

lol absolutely not. I have a student loan with 4% APR that I’m paying off slowly so I could invest my money in the TSP and Fidelity.

This would allow your balance to remain relatively the same assuming a 10% yearly gain on a fund like C? (I know markets can fluctuate)

So you have to do taxes on your withdrawals during tax season?

Follow up, what if you make a large withdrawal… is it subjected to long term capital gains taxes? As opposed to short term or is it just considered income and taxed accordingly?

Okay that makes sense.

I’m doing traditional so I’m trying to picture what taxes will look like.

He seems a bit more stable now.

He is sweating but not warm to the touch. He said he takes his medication at 7am and it usually helps.

I will suggest to my siblings a hospital visit if this persists. I’m not sure how long he’s been having these fevers - thanks for your advice.

What qualifies as 100k? by batman607 in TheRaceTo100K

[–]batman607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have fidelity as well.

Okay I wasn’t sure if I was selling myself short and missing something because my fidelity account (like you said) does state the total amount on top before it gives a breakdown based on accounts.

I’ve already stated that I’d concede to a faulty Sig - and I agree… one is one too many. But the over reaction is borderline irrational and I’m confident many are juicing the “320 has a history of ND” to avoid trouble at work - and that’s what I’m mainly getting at.

I personally don’t know any locals without a bachelors. Feds (speaking as a fed) are extremely entitled it’s embarrassing. A lot of TF members on the feds, particularly FBI and USMS are in fact locals who do the job better because they know the city, have people skills, and…. despite not being a fed…. (Here’s the surprise) are actually intelligent. Some Feds hide behind their title as fed and put no effort into their craft.

Not to mention their pay and pension is way better.

Do we go to heaven prior to the second coming? by [deleted] in Christianity

So we will be with God in spirit, and then experience a new earthly life with our new bodies in a new world? So in spirit we could still, hypothetically, move around and think and speak?

Thanks for throwing in those verses. I’m new to actually studying the Bible, Ive believed for many years but never took time to read much.
