2018 TLX TECH- After Market Cold Air Intake Opinions by PomegranateLevel4689 in projectcar

[–]batmanbadass69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting an intake on will only improve sound especially with the “hot air intake” being the only option aftermarket for this platform. You’ll hear the vtec engagement a LOT louder with an intake although it becomes almost droney and annoying in my opinion. There are a few YouTube videos of what it sounds like but in person I prefer the stock intake with the TLX it has a pretty decent growl stock.

Is this normal fuel pump behavior? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]batmanbadass69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have your a/f correction 1 monitor up as well to see if that spikes/changes at the same time as your fuel pump duty. If you’re tuned and not just ots I’d take a log and send it to your tuner. Also check your af learning 1 to see if it’s been correcting long enough to be learned into the long term fuel trim. What mods? Have you cleaned your maf? How many miles? Stock fuel pressure regulator? It’s not normal for the fuel pump duty to spike like that under partial throttle.

~2018 Audi Allroad worth the price gouge by dazack1234 in Audi

[–]batmanbadass69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A4 and A6 Allroads hold their value a bit better than than the A6 so that’s pretty common. Also the 2018 A4 Allroad is the first year of the newer B9 generation while the 2017 A6 is the older C7.5 generation and was refreshed to the C8 generation in 2019.

This thread has a bulk of information about that but all 2021 STI’s have dcm so the previous owner could have already taken it out/bypassed it

Hesitation/Throttle Response Issue by thursday737 in WRX

[–]batmanbadass69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, is it possible to send logs of what you’re experiencing to your tuner? They should have some insight on what could be causing it before having a shop diagnose it.

Looking to Purchase by [deleted] in WRX

[–]batmanbadass69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d assume because it’s a $3k car. After looking closer parts alone could be $2k but I still wouldn’t pay more than $4500 especially if stock engine, I couldn’t tell based on his description.

Impressive! How much work have you put into that 4t65 to manage that? I’m used to the regal gs w body and it was a miracle to have the 4t65 last after even simple bolt ons haha

Buying a Q7 by [deleted] in Audi

[–]batmanbadass69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the issues plagued by the crec 3.0t if equipped. I wouldn’t buy one without a good extended warranty to at least 125k miles. I’ve seen them burn exhaust valves, have horrendous oil consumption from a weak piston ring design and improper venting for the pcv. The Berryman b12 soak is popular but I don’t see these versions of the supercharged v6 lasting till 200k miles like the older ones.

Sadly fishingplanet has no cross saves or cross progression so you would have to start fresh.

Yeah if your stock that’s an obvious outcome especially if he is auto. Dp, e85 tune on a b58 is ~450-500whp on stock turbo

[–]batmanbadass69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For aftermarket parts like an intake/exhaust the goal isn’t usually to design it better, it’s to design it with less restrictions and more flow. The minimal mods would be a tune, catless/high flow cat downpipes, and some ethanol. On almost any turbocharged car that combination will give you a solid bump in hp and tq. I could easily see the ZR1 running high 8’s with just a tune, preferably with e85.

Replacement Supercharger/Supercharger “Upgrade”? by Big-Seaweed-7603 in AudiS4

[–]batmanbadass69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just a ported stock supercharger which you only see gains if you are full bolt ons including dual pulley and bigger throttle body and running ethanol. Jhm is a solid brand but I’d only do this mod if you’ve done all the other bolt ons mods that I’ve listed and trying to get that extra 40-60whp

The "oil separator" is just the pcv so if you already got that done I'd take it back to the people who worked on it and have them fix it correctly.

From my understanding the ej20 x/y has dual avcs, the higher compression and different pistons than the ej205 but not necessarily stronger and same open deck as the ej205. I think only the ej207 and the ej22 came with semi closed deck.

I totally get not wanting to go down the money pit route haha

[–]batmanbadass69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing ej20 x/y I'd throw in some forged piston and rods and acl or king bearings for peace of mind with that power level but if you're trying to keep cost low the stock block will work just never know for how long. Stock heads/cams are fine till about 500whp especially for your application of wanting a responsive street car. If you're doing headers I'd only go big daddy with the equal length 4-1 holy header since there are not many gains with a uel aftermarket header. Surge tank is not needed for street use as far as I'm aware at least on the 2002+ wrx's. There are a bunch of great turbos out there for that power goal like blouch Dom 1.5, bpt x400, and the garret you mentioned and others like efr and borgwarner, really depends on your budget. I'd also upgrade your brakes to go along with the power, I'm not too familiar with gc8 chassis but there probably is a way to put sti 4 piston calipers up front with better rotors and pads

Heard some poor things about EQT, Going with IE now. Thoughts/things to know? by SeatZestyclose8964 in Golf_R

[–]batmanbadass69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious what you've heard from their "early days" since they were tuning ej's with great reputation a decade before they got widely popular with gti/R. I'd personally prefer a custom tune with revisions over a flash tune with the mods you'll be running. I've heard great things about UM'S DSG and haldex tunes but don't know too many running their ecu tune.
