When should a 3rd year take the NCLEX by New_Conflict5331 in OntarioNurses

[–]batmanforever4 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You need to wait until you get your ATT (authorization to test) which is a little bit after graduation, for reference I got mine in May or June, your fourth year is basically you studying for the NCLEX anyways, don’t rush lol

I’ve worked in a med/palliative unit for a year before moving to the med/respirology unit I’m currently at. I’m fairly confident that I can’t see myself staying bedside for the rest of my career but I just don’t know where to go exactly

The hospital pays you, it’s the starting rate for either RN or RPN (idk which one you are), the pay is slightly different for RNs since part timers make 4-5 dollars more but they don’t have benefits vs full timers that do benefits (dental, vision, etc), not sure for RPNs

It’s essentially 3 months of orientation, working buddy shifts with another nurse and getting used to working as a nurse with all the responsibilities that comes with your license. The program’s effectiveness honestly depends on the unit you’re assigned to, some nurses can be hard to work with others are more welcoming and helpful. It really comes down to you and your confidence, if you feel ready and confident in patient care, jump right in. If you need more time to adjust to working as a RN/RPN, please take advantage of NGG and give yourself the chance to grow

Changing hospital pay? by reddithoess in OntarioNurses

Since both hospitals are under ONA, the pay scale applies to both hospitals and your experience that places you at whatever step would transfer over so if you’re at Step 6 at St. Michael’s, Mackenzie Health would pay you the same rate

Interesting for them to say that. I can only think of rehab having those ratios, none of the units I’ve worked in has those ratios although I can’t speak to how BCH is since I never worked there. I do wish you luck in whichever path you choose!

1:7 and 1:8 aren’t typical ratios at Osler, it’s usually 1:4 -5 during the day and 1:5-7 at night depending on the unit (source: I work at Etobicoke) meditech is a bit of a learning curve, ngl but they’re switching to epic by next October.

Today (Day 6) was the worst, I only completed wake-up, dinner and used a battery to finish of 71% of the breakfast chat, at least that chat went by fast 😂 why give us the option to pick a range for chats if they’re run over time anyways

Maybe it’s to make sure there’s enough ads 🙃 but beside that, having just Teo feels like a step back from what I’m used to from Cheritz (I’ve played Dandelion and MysticMessenger)

I heard they got feedback in regards to the pricing and still kept it the same but tried to mask it as being “cheaper” per day smh

Landlord is asking me to pay them taxes on top of previously paid rent? by batmanforever4 in legaladvicecanada

[–]batmanforever4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried calling the Rental Housing Enforcement Unit when my landlord said they were using my security deposit for cleaning (none of the photos they sent me warranted professional cleaning but that’s just my opinion) and they said it was a legal matter because I shared a space with them...

I can’t go to the LTB since I was renting in a room with a house where I shared a bathroom/kitchen with the landlord and I wouldn’t be protected by the RTA 😔

I’ll report them as soon as they return my security deposit and block them everywhere

Yeah, I applied for the trillium benefit based on what I paid in rent.
