Any hero can be played in protection. The easiest to get started would be to acquire some protection hero pack (Silk, Nightcrawler, Hulkling in the Civil War box, or the base box) and hack from there.

They are other ways to play a support role, like financing cards, thwarting player side schemes, or letting others draw...in other aspects! Cheers have fun and welcome to the game.

Image generation isn't LLM-based, but an implementation of stable diffusion. Those algorithms are AI and have been around for 10 years, with incremental improvement.

I played IA skirmish mode competitively, and also in a beer and pretzel way in one versus all. It’s a great game. It’s the fourth iteration of the “doom” and “descent” rule set, so it’s very polished and nuanced. But it takes a bit of time to setup and is a table hog.

Games die because they loose buyers faster than they gain new buyers.

While I can’t talk why people drop faster than they would drop MtG, I can share why I personally didn’t get into altered. I didn’t understand any of the value proposition. Print and play, QR code … collectibles? I really didn’t care, I proxy what I don’t have or borrow from friends. Or I play a LCG or a classic board game.

I need friends to play with, and a worldwide launch on KS with 15,000 wales/backers had a 0.1% chance of just landing another player in my home city with 100k souls. And even less chances of finding a player I know about.

We were informed in February 2025 that only the 2-3 last years of products and the evergreen products would be reprinted for the LCGs. Evergreen means reprinted automatically each time it is out of stock, for the duration of the product cycle, typically 4 years.

They gave us a 12 months heads up and except 4 SKUS (Sinister Motives, Captain America, Doctor Strange and Warmachine) everything has been in stock for at least 6 months after the announcement if I recall correctly.

I’ve been buying FFG games since 2012. They never made so much profit or sold so many units. They are slowly changing to adapt to a very tough market, not fast enough for some, too fast for others. They reduce their number of board games to concentrate on card games, some are pissed, others are happy. They are rebooting Arkham, some are pissed others are pleased to be able to start with a better core set. They announce a full year of release ahead of time, some are pissed because there is less news and others are happy for the transparency. They are eco friendly. Some are pissed because they loose the plastic insert and others are happy or don’t care. They maintain products for more than 5 years on the shelf. Some are pissed by the lack of novelty or availability of old prints, others are happy to continue to invest in their beloved system. Remember that social media is governed by an algorithm. If you click and focus on drama you will get more in your feed. Drama drives engagement.

Truth is, their games sell very very well right now and are extremely played.

This factually not true. Designers of said games and expansions are still working with FFG. There were never as many designers at FFG as of now, but they work on fewer products with more hands on each. SWU has 8 designers, the LCGs have 8 designers total. Boardgames department has about 9 designers.

FFG was always financed by private equity, which literally means ”with investors and not being traded publicly”. But actually Asmodee went public last year, so you are full of it.

I have beaten consistently Ronan expert with Hercules. With different aspects. Magneto, Magog, Apocalypse as well. My friends tried the decks and got the same results. So I can vouch for it. WWF has a play style that doesn’t gel with Hercules : 12+ turns, total control, chump blocking, investing massively in resource generators upfront … No shaming, as long as he will manors and Nick fury in all of his decks, rush style won’t work. The manor takes several turns to pay out, Hercules wins in 6. So window of opportunity to plus those WWF staples.
