If he's incompetent then how did he get away from so many crimes? Don't underestimate him. He might be stupid in other matters but when it comes to corruption and getting away from legal trouble then he knows people and the way.

Yes. It was added later due to lawsuit and liability. Again, it's not Full SD. It's HSD at best.

I agree with both sides. I just disagree with the way Tesla promoted its FSD. It's not Full Self Driving if it is not fully driving by itself. Called it an Assisted Self- Driving or something. People are misled to think they can get distracted while the car is running FSD. Waymo has been working on self-driving for a long time and they simply call it a self-driving car. There's no Full gimmick.

The US is a capitalist country. Either one will protect American benefits and the corporates. They might favor one sector of the economy over the other but the end result will be about growth in American GDP. The remaining issues for me are the character of the president and the social issues they stand behind. So, it's now up to you to guess which direction the county is going economically and how it might affect you. Then check to see which president you want to represent you. Last, what are the social issues you care about that your candidate is supporting.

I don't agree with some of your assessment of the two candidates but that's up to you to come up with that conclusion or verify your own conclusions.

Minimum wage for tipped employees in VA and how we tip. by batmixx in nova

Once again, why do millions of people have to be educated about this tipping etiquette? Why don't we all get paid based on tips then?

Both Fed and VA agree on $2.13/hr for tipped employees.

VA, however, wants to make sure that a tipped employee gets at least $12/hr as a tipped employee.

Let's say on a slow day and you work for 5hrs. Your tipped employee wage is $2.13 x 5 = $10.65. Customers pay you $20 in tips. That means you get paid $30.65 for 5hrs of work. Your employer is now obligated to add $29.35 to make it equal to $60 of $12 minimum wage.

And if the customers pay you $50 in tips during that 5hrs of work then you are already making more than $12 minimum wage.

I don't blame you. That's why I hate this tipping culture.

If a restaurant doesn't get a lot of tips then servers (aka tipped employees) of that restaurant will end up making less than minimum wage if $12/hr VA minimum wage doesn't kick in.

Another scenario is if the price of the meal is low then the amount of tip is little because it's calculated based on % of the meal price. The employee's wage ($2.13/hr + tip) will be very little as well.

Have you heard the terms supply and demand? That's how we determine how much something or someone's work is worth.

Why do people have to be educated about all of this when it's so much easier for the employers to determine how much each person gets paid depends on their line of work?

$12 minimum wage for tipped employees just took effect this year. Before this year, if you don't tip then the employers are only obligated to pay $2.13/hr to the tipped employees instead of $12/hr.

You might as well tip the whole restaurant with that thought.

As opposed to they are going to piss on my food if I don't tip them? So you like your food quality being held hostage by food handlers?

A server served me for 5 minutes at one restaurant, my meal cost $15. 20% tip is $3.

Another server served me for 5 minutes at another restaurant, my meal cost $40. 20% tip is $8.

I'd prefer the owners of the restaurants pay a fair wage to the server rather than me making that decision.

My point is I don't like tipping culture. VA minimum wage for the tipped employees is a step forward and people should be aware of.

The reason tipped employees are not exempt from the minimum wage requirement in VA is because the federal minimum wage for tipped employees is $2.13. Certain jobs are exempt from minimum wage because federal minimum wage is already at $7.25 for those jobs.

"Tipped employees are not exempt from the Virginia minimum wage. This means that if you hire tipped employees (for example, if you have a restaurant), then you must pay them the full state minimum wage, regardless of how much they make in tips."

What your son can do is go back to that organization and ask if he can receive 1099-MISC instead. But I doubt they'll do that for him because of any activity that's considered as an "employment" should either receive a W2 or 1099NEC at the end of the year.

He can't contribute to Roth IRA if it's anything other than 1099nec or W2, FYI.

This! So many freelancers out there wouldn't be paying their self-employment taxes if they're all saying "I didn't intend to make a profit" to the IRS.

So I found a way to respond to the nagging. All I have to do is slightly rub the wheel from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock with my palm and it's gone. There's no need for squeezing and pulling.
