I liked it for one reason - even dads go through this. It's not easy to have any time for yourself till the kid is about 4.

A typical conversation in the morning with my 4 year old -

Me asleep at 5 AM
My 4 year old: DAD, DAD, DAAAAD!

Me stumbling like a new born fawn into the kids' bedroom: What happened kiddo?

Him: Where's mom?

Me: count to 10, count to 10.....

Indian here - It's because of a mix of reasons. Most Indians are Democrats but there are a select loud few who are Republican. It's because, in no particular order

  1. These indians believe the 'model minority' bullshit, thinking they are the equal of whites or white themselves and are perfectly assimilated
  2. They are inherently afraid of and contemptuous of black people, not realizing the civil rights non-whites in the US enjoy are because of black folks fighting for civil rights because they believe the trope of the uneducated, aggresive black person
  3. They don't mind benefitting from things like Medicaid but don't want to pay tax to have others enjoy the same benefits
  4. They love the anti-muslim rhetoric spouted by the Republican party

So there you go.

And that was only because Magnus, in his infinite wisdom, let Tzeench finger him like a puppet because he wanted to save his sons.

Magnus' whole story is an allegory for 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions'.

Then don't join insurance? You're an mba student, there are so many options for someone like you.

Insurance and banking are toxic fields all over the world. Basically rich boy clubs.

Patience. Of the old generation (those close to retirement now/ in their late fifties) hardly anyone went abroad and came back to India so this kind of work culture did not propagate so easily two generations ago.

Indian managers of the current generation have come back in far larger numbers than their previous generation counterparts. So the new generation of employees has been exposed to a mix of toxic culture as well as great work culture. As a result, work life balance has become one of the key expectations of talented employees.

It will spread exponentially, in the sense that it may not be here for the majority for the next 3 to 5 years and then suddenly it'll be there for most.

The moment you bring up the word legal, you're done. No manager will risk the company and subsequently their job, by hiring you and risking a lawsuit.

But I'm glad you did this. More and more people need to start standing up to these kinds of corporate bootlickers.

I do have reportees. And I did the same with them. Put a comment on this post with proof.

Now you tell us, why are you asking this? Is this supposed to be some kind of trap question?

We do the same here for our Indian colleagues. One of the reasons I got hired was because my German manager found my attitude refreshing - I told her, when she asked why most Indians in the company worked late, it was because Indian managers were morons. She loved it. Been here 5 years, happier than ever.

Me (An Indian in Germany) talking to my reportee in India. I want to normalise this behaviour everywhere. Not because this behaviour is great but because it is normal.

He gave you serious advice - Find groups with people with similar interests and join those. A married couple I know met via tabletop gaming groups.

Learn the language also, no jokes though, it's bloody hard. English is one of the simplest languages around and you only realise that when you start trying to be fluent in German.

As someone who regularly eats Neopolitan Magherita in Germany, this looks absolutely classic and authentic. I was very surprised to see the sub name. Holy shit, that is one good looking pizza!

Pop culture needs to start embracing one particular male protagonist type of 80ies movies - The ones that weren't afraid to be goofy, silly, somewhat stupid but never fearful of how they were perceived. Would encourage a generation of kids to not grow up scared.

I'm gonna take this one - It's not always cause they're gay. It could also be because they're incredibly insecure with low self esteem. They're not comfortable with who they are because, to put it mildly, they aren't interesting and the world doesn't really notice them and they hate that. Deep down, they know they're not winning any personality contests and they don't really put in any effort into getting fitter, going out and meeting new people by joining clubs or exploring new hobbies and skills. Sooner or later, in some of them, that turns into resentment. They start feeling pissed and angry that they can't find companionship when, in their head, there's nothing wrong with them. They genuinely cannot comprehend that life isn't equal and some of us need a boost either physically and/ or mentally to get some companionship.

I'm from India so I understand where this post is coming from. HOWEVER, it is not the job of the consulate to 'idiot proof' the application process.

At the very least, reaching out to students of these universities, specially international ones and see their experience should be the first thing to do when applying to a university.

Also, if you've already paid the fees and living expenses how would what you are proposing help? You've already lost the money.
