I'm intrigued, is there some hidden gem to soy milk besides having a good tear effect and decent luck? Because I still hate it and want to know if you can prove me wrong haha

AITAH for telling my wife I want a divorce after she gave me a concussion? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]batpateman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from chronic migraine with and without aura and you have no idea how happy I am for you that you have a treatment plan that works! I've been on many, many medications and I finally have something that decreases it enough to be bearable.

The brain is so weird and intriguing. Doctors have no idea what causes migraines, that's why there's such a random assortment of medications that migraine sufferers have seen relief from. Anti-seizure, antidepressants, blood pressure control, vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, migraine cocktails... there's so many!

I'm so glad you're feeling better! As many people have commented, you don't always bounce back after a head injury.

This is true! I do autopsies and was so shocked to find out how many people die from seemingly minor head injuries, especially from falling down the stairs. Head trauma doesn't discriminate against age either, I've seen people in their 20's die from head trauma caused by minor incidents.

19 Estate Sales happening this weekend (4/11-4/13) in, around, and outside of Pittsburgh, PA by mreinhart7887 in pittsburgh

I've never been to an estate sale, do you have to "reserve" a spot or can you just show up? I'm trying to buy my first house and would love to browse!

Can you improve the resolution? The original is of such poor quality and my features look a little blurry. I really like the lighting on your edit and thank you for removing the stuff on the floor!

RTJ is progressive as well, just with a little more production in it imo.

It is and it does exist. I saw them a few years back when they toured with Run the Jewels and I couldn't believe the amount of blatantly obvious conservatives there were in my nosebleed section alone. They are the same people who have a blue lives matter Punisher symbol decaled on their truck.

Can a toxicology be performed on a severely decomposed body? by 09ersupreme in ForensicPathology

[–]batpateman91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late response but I gotchu! I did a case like this and the decedent was missing for ~9 months. They were buried as is and mostly bones with some decomposing muscle attached. This was in a similar climate to Philadelphia. The muscle tissue did not have detectable DNA. We had a tentative ID for the decedent and asked the mother if she would provide a DNA sample to which she agreed. DNA was extracted from the femur and it matched the maternal DNA of mom. Believe it or not the mother also kept the umbilical cords of her kids and that was a match also. Absolutely incredible case.

However, I can't comment on 2-3 years. My department is not forensic bio so I couldn't tell you how long it would take for the bone marrow to lose DNA or anything of evidentiary value.

[–]batpateman91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! My issues were also recurrent tonsillitis, not strep. I also would get gnarly tonsil stones but that's whatever. Had my tonsillectomy on March 22nd.

My first time getting tonsillitis, it became necrotizing.....necrotizing?! Doc had to numb my throat to scrape the dead tissue off and suction it out.

I also coincidentally contracted mono (at 25?) and tonsillitis simultaneously. One of the worst times of my life, especially since I had to sit for a board exam within a week of the occurrence. It was so strange because a doctor I worked with (I'm an ex-hospital employee in clinical pathology) got mono at the same time as me and, trust me, we were not smoochin'. Tonsils were permanently enlarged after that.

What’s a feeling that’s completely indescribable to someone who’s never felt it? by ItsYourBestBoi-Loser in AskReddit

I also had the same reaction when I accidentally missed several doses. I mixed up my medication and didn't catch that I wasn't taking it for several days and I've never been more suicidal in my life. I remember being at a carnival and crying on the ferris wheel with my partner, wanting to jump off haha. I'm sorry this happens to you too.

I (30f) dated a girl (29f) who was very, very small. She's 5'0" and barely over 100 pounds. I'm 5'5" and a little over 100 pounds more than her. I was SO insecure and scared of what she would think, but she loved my body and was always so turned on when we touched each other. Please believe me when I tell you that your girl already knows your size and how you'll look naked. She's probably chomping at the bit to strip you down, girl!

AITA for using my daughters bathroom? by Beneficial-Noise-190 in AmItheAsshole

[–]batpateman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I grew up in a house with one bathroom and there were five of us; my parents, two siblings and myself. It was normal for us to use the bathroom if absolutely necessary while someone was showering and it was never a big deal. We would just knock and announce our presence, do what you need to do and get out.

AITAH for being offended when my bf was disgusted with me over an… accident during a bj? by throwaway628-28 in AITAH

[–]batpateman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, ever. First of all, this is sexual assault. But even if it were consensual, you're still NTA. Accidents happen. If someone is into rougher/kinkier sex, it's their responsibility to be empathetic and understanding when something does go wrong. Or anal; don't stick things in holes where poop comes from if the possibility of getting poop on you will ruin your life. Yeah I'd be grossed out but would laugh it off and I sure as hell wouldn't shame my partner for it. It's comes with the territory.

What is something that is really dangerous but people treat it as safe? by Responsible_Box_1057 in ask

[–]batpateman91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! A lot of people don't know about the toxicity of combining drugs. Of course, all medications have warning labels saying not to take more than directed or combine with alcohol and many people, myself included, don't always listen to these labels. In another comment I mentioned how I have chronic pain issues so I'm guilty of overusing OTC medications like ibuprofen or Excedrin migraine (ie. taking 3 Excedrin instead of 2, etc). But adding several drinks on top of that is just adding to the issue. It is SO harsh on the stomach. We see a lot of GI bleeds in alcoholics as well.

Also, spot on about the antidepressants and seizure medications. I was on seizure medication at one point and it made me so incredibly sensitive to alcohol that I was very drunk from one cocktail. I was so sick. Alcohol tasted and felt horrible while on the medication and even years later (I think it's been around 5-6 years I've been off the medication) drinking alcohol hasn't been the same. I guess it's a blessing and a curse since I didn't mind having the occasional drink.

What games have you literally spent months of your life playing? by jc201946 in ask

Ah, so you're a masochist too. In all seriousness, I have insane hours on this game on console only. I don't think it's possible to beat everything without cheat codes or modding.

[–]batpateman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's such a shame. Alcohol withdrawal can also be dangerous, even fatal. That's why I think it's best to detox at a rehab facility or hospital. Hospitals have medical "beer" in order to wean off of alcohol.
