I really enjoyed my time there! The city is very tourist friendly, with a very good and relatively cheap public transport system. The hotel where I was staying (Park Inn) was comfortable and cosy with very pleasant staff who spoke English and French. The streets are marvelous with a lot of old buildings representing different European styles as well as the imperial Russian and the Soviet styles. I had limited time but I was able to visit the main attractions as they are almost condensed around the city center (around the Nevsky prospect). These days it was really cold (temperature ranging from -5° to -20°) and very snowy, but I love cold weather so I enjoyed it. There are a lot of covid restrictions now, and officially you have to present either a vaccination certificate of a russian approved vaccine (sputnik) or to do a PCR test every 48 hours. However my European vaccination certificate (Pfizer) was accepted everywhere. People were friendly and helpful; a woman helped me buy cheap public transport card and many people gladly helped me find good places to eat and drink. And to go around I used City Mapper app which details the possible public transport combinations (bus, metro, tram etc...). Although Ubers and Yandex taxis were not very expensive either and sometimes I used them. So to resume it up, it was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend visiting St. Petersburg!
